GevaliaDark Royal Roast K-Cup Coffee Pods (18 Pods)

The coffee itself is excellent, but I can't give it a five star review because of the pods.The coffee first. It's a decent dark roast, with a very nice flavor. It's extremely smooth and mellow while still keeping a good dark roast flavor. A lot of dark roasts tend to get bitter, even a nearly burned flavor, but not Gelvalia's Royal Dark.The problem is the pods themselves. It is a slightly different design than the standard K-cup, with a corrugated plastic wall instead of smooth plastic. That doesn't seem to be an issue, but puncturing the pod is, as some other reviewers have pointed out.Normally you just drop in the pod and close the machine and it makes two punctures, one at the top in the foil cover, and one in the bottom of the cup. These cups don't like to make that bottom puncture for some reason. They can still be used, but you have to put your thumbs on the edge of the cup and push it down yourself to make sure that it actually gets pierced on the bottom before you close the machine. It's a minor annoyance. As long as you remember to do that the pods will work fine.

So, I tried this coffee as a cash back offer and I gotta say, it's delicious but I do wish the price was a little less. For 12 of these pods it was a little much and it took forever to ship to me. However, the coffee is delicious! If you're not on a budget, drink away.

DECAF review:1) I have not experienced the coffee grounds issue so it must depend on your machine2) I have tried most of the decaf K-cups available from Amazon (or elsewhere) and this is my favorite for "strong flavor" ... in fact I think it has the strongest "coffee" flavor of all the decaf K-cups I've tried (I am excluding the sugary flavored decafs). It tastes more like a normal cup of coffee than most decafs.3) It is a strong, rich flavor and has a little bite to it so I couldn't drink it all the time but it's a very nice flavor. I mix it in with other, smoother decafs that I drink for a variety.4) Highly recommended particularly for people who find other decafs to be too bland, I think this might be just the choice for you!

We bought deaf but received regular pods. The issue was fully resolved by the seller.

Several years ago--BK--Before K-cups--I signed up for the Gevalia offer of coffee and a free coffee pot. I loved the coffee, but it was VERY expensive and the subscription was not renewed when it ran its course. So when I saw Amazon had a special on Gevalia K-cups--and with the discounts it would as cheap as any other brand, I jumped for it. The coffee in the K=cups is just as good as a remembered and has become my new favorite. Anytime I see these on sale I plan to stock up. I will warn everyone that I like my coffee VERY strong, with lots of cream and sugar. This coffee is extra bold and extra dark--just what I like. But it is not for the faint of heart. Flavorful and potent.

Santa Hubby bought me the Keurig Platinum and I was quite happy about that. The process started. To find the perfect K-Cup for me. Several boxes later I tried this. Gathering all the tried but rejected other brands because they were too strong for my liking. My daughter in-law loves strong coffee so she was thrilled about receiving my many boxes of rejects. Loving the Gevalia Signature Blend Mild. PERFECT!! I will also add Starbucks Blonde is my #2 favorite. I did some review reading about the style of the Gevalia cup and it seems there is a design flaw so I recommend when you first put it in give it an extra little push so the needle on the bottom can puncture it and in doing this little extra step it seems I have solved that problem.

The coffee in these IS good, and smooth and just like they say "Never bitter". However, I agreed with some of the other reviewers that there is a problem with the foil tops on these K cups. Foil tops on K cups are notorious for causing problems and grounds in your cup. Every manufacturer who makes these needs to get rid of foil tops. Try this little experiment and it will prove it....make a cup of coffee with one of these and check for grounds in your drink. Mine gets a LOT. Next try it again with a new K cup but this time cover the top of it with a square piece of clear box tape. Overlap the K cup top just slightly so that the whole foil top is covered. Brew using this K cup....NO GROUNDS in your coffee. Sucks that you have to do this with these because its great coffee. Please make a review if this happens to you so the manufacturer might make changes.

The rating is for the coffee itself, because it is great coffee. but much too expensive. From now on I'll wait until we travel to the U.S. and stock up where it is much cheaper.

My favorite coffee, so obviously I loved it. Amazon's service was prompt and efficient as I have come to expect.
