This is a very good book and dvd set
This is a very good book and dvd set. However it's titled Taekwondo grappling techniques and there is actually no grappling techniques shown.A more accurate title would be Taekwondo throwing techniques. But over all a very good book and dvd set.

Okay grappling book, but not TKD.
Basic grappling, but nothing I've ever seen in any official Taekwondo sources.

Good book on Grappling possibilities in Taekwondo and also comes with DVD.
Its a good book on grappling possibilities in Taekwondo. I think the practitioner is an ITF Taekwondo practitioner. Therefore, the application is based on ITF Taekwondo forms. However, if you're a martial arts practitioner in general you would be able to apply the techniques in this book using your art.The majority of illustrations in the book shows the person doing the form and the picture of the form applied. It makes the illustrations seems static. I preferred the illustrations shows the sequence of the movements. I think that would help the reader get a better idea how the techniques is set up and see the important points on how to successfully apply the techniques.

Interesting
This work aims at looking at ways of using very traditional and 'normal' TKD techniques to perform take downs and the like. Now obviously this book has been spurred into existence to some extent by the grappling craze and fair enough but what is interesting is that the book tries to show that there are different ways to use different motions within TKD to effect various moves. Now obviously such a work can't go into a million different variants so what it does is to look at certain blocks and strikes and look at how those bodily motions could be used to grapple or take down opponents. Further it then looks at some of the patterns of TKD and how moves in there could also be used for the same thing. Now some of this looks more effective to me than others but what it does is open the door for a bunch of TKD hanging out at the Dojang to stare playing around with this sort of thing. That's the real value of it - to get people thinking about how they apply things. This is partly because rather than go into a million variants the book simply spells out in sequence a certain move and has photographs along with it to illustrate what is being talked about. It's a very visual book and hence a great resources for your library. There is a DVD that is quite brief but very useful as an adjunct to the actual book and while not flashy by any means if you are buying this 2nd hand you really want to ensure you are going to get the DVD along with it.
