Very High Quality; A Minor Glitch
The manufacturing quality and paint coating of the post, mount plate and decorative base are first class. The quality of the decorative base aluminum casting is quite impressive. All the parts have a very nice semigloss black finish, and there were no blemishes on exterior surfaces. As mentioned by others, the post seemed to be on the short side and in order to meet the USPS mailbox height requirement, and only about 12 inches of the post extended into the ground. But this seems to be sufficient for the quickset concrete I used to fill the hole around the post. The post and mounting plate are very rigid and my standard mailbox does not wobble or flex in its mounting. The only problem: 4 screws used to join the two halves of the decorative base were too long and bottomed out in the threaded holes before the halves fully pulled together. I bought shorter screws at the hardware store (1/2" vs supplied 3/4") and all was well. Nevertheless, I posted 5 stars due to the good design and quality of everything else.

It's beautiful.
It's quite beautiful. But you do need to do more than the instructions say to get it to be sturdy. My husband bought stainless steel hardware so rust wouldn't form, and he used quikrete to bolster the post in the hole, and added a 12" square x 3" high quikrete base. He built a 2x4 wood square (and cut it down to 3") to build the base, which enabled him to make sure the base was even with our walkway and the street - he just kept moving the wood square until it was right, then filled it with quikrete, waited overnight for the quikrete to harden, then removed the wood square. So the post is very stable and doesn't move. However, even though we bolted the mailbox down onto the plate with four bolts, the mailbox still doesn't sit firmly, it rocks a bit when you open and close it. Also, you have to attach the mailbox base plate before setting the post, or it won't be even with the street and you'll have to drill new holes. Luckily another reviewer mentioned that (thanks!), so we were prepared. And none of the screws fit the decorative pieces. We were buying stainless steel ones anyway, but be forewarned that the hardware won't be sufficient. I'm only taking off 1 star for all that, because I love it anyway, it's beautiful.

Sturdy and still looks like new
I found this mailbox post after finding out that my current post had been changed by the previous owner and it was not in compliance with the homeowner's association guidelines. This was almost $150 cheaper than what it would have cost me to replace it locally. The post came complete with instructions and was easy to put together. I have now had it for over six months and it still as sturdy as it was since I installed it. Very pleased with this mailbox post, and the savings!

Not Properly Tapped Screw Holes
Like another reviewer pointed out. I got the product and sunk it in the ground with cement. It looks nice and I have the mailbox attached. I went to install the covers at the base and the screws were really hard to screw in. I checked the threading and depth and they are correct, so I decided to keep going. The screw sheared off in the hole, so now have have to drill out the screw and find a replacement. The post is sturdy and looks fine without the covers. But it would have been nicer if I could use them.

Nice post with simple design
This is a good quality post with a nice decorative shroud around the base of the post. It is a heavy gauge metal post that is very solid when installed in a concrete base. It was a very easy install, and I only had to dig down 14" for the installation so no worries about hitting any utilities. Would definitely recommend.

Oxidized eyesore :(
The box itself is sturdy, but the shiny black paint oxidized within 3 months of the January installation. The black plastic post surround stays constantly dirty & the dirt infiltrates black plastic , so it can never be cleaned. This was a TON of money for a strong locking mailbox that looks TERRIBLE. It is at the top of our driveway & I am so embarrassed thatโs the first impression people get of our home :(

It looks great. I can't believe it took me a month ...
this is the first time in 35 years that I've had to replace my mailbox post. I had a time trying to make a decision. Finally, this is the post I decided on. It looks great. I can't believe it took me a month to choose but, I'm glad this was my final choice. It was so easy to install. I got it for a great price and the best thing about this mailbox post, it's not wood, it's not plastic. It's actually galvanized steel, which means it will last for atleast another 35 years.

Wobbly Mailbox - Maybe it will work after I add some extra brackets.
I bought this Architectural Mailboxes mailbox post to mount my Architectural Mailboxes Oasis Jr. locking mailbox. Installation was straight forward, and I mounted the post in concrete, so the post is very stable. The problem is that the top adapter plate allows the mailbox to mount to the top of the post, but it is made of thin sheet metal. Once the mailbox was mounted, it does not hold it very well and the mailbox wobbles significantly. Very Poor design, it will need some additional brackets so the mailbox doesn't break off the top of the post within a few weeks. So I get an 'extra' project to make my $100 mailbox post work. Not good, Architectural Mailboxes. Seriously, did Architectural Mailboxes ever even test this with their own mailboxes? It would have been apparent the minute it is mounted. And there is no way to test it until you cement the post in the ground, so its not like i can return it. Can't you even make a decent mailbox post? C'mon Architectural Mailboxes, this is your business!! This ain't rocket science. Just once I'd like to buy something and have it work without needing extra work on my part. Lame!! Did I mention it was made in China?
