The version that I got already had a rounded pin base and had no friction so I didn’t need the YouTube mods. I checked 2 tires that were on a used car that I purchased and one was in need of a balance and I replaced and balanced two of the rear tires. No vibration and a smooth ride. This paid for itself with one job. I bought a HF Manual Tire changer and didn’t need to make any mods on that model either. The new model is sturdy. So with this balancer and the tire changer, I can say goodbye to the tire shops except for my big truck tires but my cars won’t be coming to the tire shops. The setup was so easy, I’m looking to use it again but have no tires to change or balance. I wish I’d purchased both items years ago.

Just bought one of these because it is currently half the price on Amazon vs Harbor Freight. I had been meaning to grab one at some point for when I need it in the future but have held off simply because I haven't absolutely needed it yet. Considering the political circumstances of 2025, I decided to grab one before the price goes up because I will need one soon.It came the SAME DAY! Clearly my local Amazon warehouse surprisingly had it in stock.I haven't used it yet but I am writing this review because I wanted to let people know that the one I got seems to be an updated model because it has the larger drilled hole for the pivot and it swings freely. I had watched the YouTube videos about this issue and was prepared to do the mod and fix it myself but they either rectified that at the factory or have gone through and modified existing stock...or something.I hope that means it's gonna work great!! I'll modify this review if not.One thing that's really cool about these.....The base makes an AMAZING, REALLY LOUD bell !!!!If it sucks as a balancer, I will seriously re-purpose the base as a tone therapy singing bowl on my mountain property in Colorado.

Very easy to assemble, difficult to see the bubble (I used a magnifying glass) but it seems to have saved me a trip to the tire store after I installed the new tires myself.

I recommend watching some of the videos on how to do manually balance. Use the Y technique for weight placement. I used a magnifying glass to try to dial in the center bubble because it is difficult to see (I also wear glasses). I put new tires on a 2022 Subaru and the tires have been great. No balance issues with that set. I have another set of tires I’m putting on an 08 Fit that I believe the tires are out of balance (shaking and wobble felt at speeds upwards of 60 mph) and I’ll update if it fixes the problem. I’m happy I made this purchase and can now change out tires and balance. The manual tire changer and balancer have paid for themselves. I also did not have to make any modifications to this balancer ( did not need to drill a bigger hole or anything).

The bouncing of the tire requires the needle resting in the receptacle hole of the tire bouncing machine,to move without any restrictions. I had to drill out the hole as recommended on YouTube to get it to work properly. After I modified the whole, it worked great.

Save money to balance your own tires

This works but as any video will show needs to have the pin pocket drilled out for better engagement. Balanced 4 pick up tires, no vibration.

My rim is pretty beat up, making the wheel super unbalanced. This allows me to balance my tires at home and I gotta say this works freaking great!
