Works Fine...
This is just what I needed...The old serial ports are not being installed on new PCs so you cannot find them in any of the electronic warehouses. I have an electronic unit that is permanantly mounted on an office wall and the new computer is in another office...This did the job and we are up and running...for the right price too.

It does the job
I use the DB9 on several ups units to keep my USB ports open. When it comes to locating a UPS further from the PC, your limited to the stock length of the cable that came with the UPS. This came at an affordable price for the length. Local electronic stores around the area has these for over $30 for anything over 3 feet. It does the job and is built sturdy, and is the right length.

Do I need Gorilla tape?
Nice quality cable that I use to control a telescope. The locking screws allow the DB9S female socket to be securely attached to the computer. The computer has a male DB9P socket, with a female threaded stud on each side of the socket. Nice! The only problem with this Extension cable, is those female threaded studs on each side of the DB9P PC socket, aren't on the other end of the cable. There's another set of screws..My short short telescope cable has a DB9S female socket connector, with the screws to connect it to a PC..So, when I plug the short telescope cable into the Extension cable, it's locking screws are facing, two more locking screws on the extension cable. Screws can't screw into screws! So, I can't lock my Celestron cable onto the extension cable. If it gets pulled apart, the software crashes.. :(One more time, and I'm going to put a few layers of Gorilla tape over those connectors.. ;)

Works just like it should!
Works find with an Atmel STK500 programmer. I was using a separate, headless computer to remote in across the room, but I had an accident (bare steel hard drive bracket dropped onto motherboard followed by me hitting the power button with my knee while retrieving it...oops, it's plugged in...bracket shorted some pins on the floppy connector...motherboard no longer POSTs...live and learn), and the workbench is across the room from my primary desktop computer. This cable fixed the issue, and works great with this little AVR programmer!

Satisfied Technican
As a technician for an Oil and Gas company I need a lot of long cables like these and they have fully lived up to my expectations. The shielding was heavy duty and with stands how much they travel around in my bag and get drug out across concrete and gravel. The ends are also very good they are long enough and not to bulky, that they will plug into the back a laptop with out an adapter unlike some other cables I have dealt with.

working good so far
Used this to extend the cable on a PTZ optics camera using the HubbleCam RS-232 joystick. So far so good it's working fine for us, haven't noticed any control issues compared to when we were using the shorter cable.

I work as a field engineer and use this cable everyday. I have had it for 2 weeks and works great. I coil it up each day and store in my back pack and use it for flashing firmware to our equipment The distance helps so I don't have to move my computer each time I use it. I would buy again if needed.

Would not buy again
DB9 9 Pin Serial Extension Cable RS232 is rated to deliver signal to a printer upto 50 ft. At 25 ft this cable doesnt. I was using this for receipt printers.
