Great upgrade!
The media could not be loaded. The first Emerson radio I had I purchased when I was in college in 2004. I really liked that radio a lot and it has served me well for 20 years. However, the radio had degraded over time and it was necessary for me to replace my old clock radio. I looked for a long time online to find an AM/FM Clock radio to replace the one I currently had. Most of the clocks that I looked at had to mix of good and bad reviews, so I ended up deciding to purchase another Emerson Radio just because I had loved my first one for so long. I would’ve preferred to purchase a product that was made in the United States, but I was not able to find a Clock radio that was manufactured in the United States available for purchase on Amazon. This clock radio does not have an AM radio, and while I don’t really listen to the AM stations, I always like to have a radio with AM in case of an emergency. After I purchased this radio, I just decided to purchase an emergency radio for my emergency needs should those arise. This is a wonderful upgrade from my radio from 20 years ago. The sound quality is wonderful! That’s all I really wanted it for since I wake up to the classical radio station every single day. This has other features like colorful lights, it’ll charge your phone, it can connect to your phone, and do various other things as well. The only thing I really wanted it for was the clock and an alarm that would wake me up to the Classical Music music station. This is the first day that I have had this radio so it could still go downhill, but I’m optimistic. It seems well-made, the reception is excellent, and the sound quality is awesome. It comes with an antenna, but I didn’t need to unfold it and move it around to get a good signal. It just it just caught a good signal all on its own. If you’re interested in a radio with great sound that seems well-made this would be a clock radio to look into. I made a video just showing some of the features of this particular model, so you can see for yourself the quality of this small radio.

Lots of good features for a reasonable price.
(1) I bought this because the digital clock I had was not bright enough to see the time from across the room (from bed) when I woke up during the night and in the morning. This clock is so much better that way: big, bright numbers with a brightness that can be adjusted. I don't keep it by my bed because I don't need to use it for an alarm clock. (2) I also was tired of having to reset the clock I had when the power went off here (which it does from time to time during storms) and reset twice a year for daylight savings. I was dee-lighted at the fact that this sets itself as soon as it's plugged in and has a long-lasting battery back up. (3) I also wanted a clock radio, and as it's not a primary source for listening to music, I didn't need a super-premium quality for that. This radio gives me a nice, clear sound. (4) The cordless charger on top has worked flawlessly for me, and the USB cable is a bonus. (5) I like that the unit is a compact size with all these features. It's not a design-y looking unit (not that there's anything wrong with those) and I think that keeps the cost down. Still, it's a sleek and attractive design. ~~ I looked at a lot of clocks and clock radios online before settling on this, and it was a good purchase.

all around nice clock radio
I wanted a not-too-big clock radio, with stereo and some bass, nice color, good-size numbers, not too complicated to set time and alarm, station presets, etc., two alarms. The settings logic is different on every clock radio and - unless it's some crazy logic - just takes reading and a little practice to learn. The buttons and writing are small...too small for me to read without my glasses. Bummer, but ok, I'll put my glasses on when needed. I liked the auto time set feature....BUT....a) the manual says Pacific Time is zone 5; it's actually zone 4, and b) it was off by 5 minutes also. 5 minutes slow as I recall. So I had to make that manual adjustment. Part of the reason for the 1 star deduction. The other is: the brightness at the lowest setting for sleep. I like complete blackout in the room, and don't want to be able to see the time when I wake up at 3:30am. I knew this wouldn't go to blackout, but it looked like it went very dim from photos. Plus I didn't find many black-out alternatives. The lowest level of brightness can be seen during the day. It's dim of course, but not as dim as I like it. So I put a sleep mask over it every night. I could also turn it away. But the point is I have to futz with it every night. My old clock, which was dying, would automatically go to blackout when the lights went out. That's perfect in my book. I thought about returning it for this reason. But again, not much in the way of alternatives that do that, and I got tired of searching. I do like the phone charger on top, and that it doesn't cover up anything when charging. With the antenna, it pulls in FM stations just fine. Nice to have the large knob in the middle for adjusting volume and changing the dimmer vs. up and down buttons. Don't use the disco lights. $60 was a bit more than what I wanted to pay. But the match of features and what I wanted...I decided to splurge a little. Plus I assume this will last for several years, so cost per year isn't that different vs. a $40 clock radio.

Be sure to have back up alarm....
I had previously had an Emerson 2 alarm smartset clock that I purchased from Target many years ago. It was a great clock and lasted for a very long time. When it was time to replace it, I purchased this Emerson clock. First thing I noticed was it was 3-4 minutes fast when it set. Next thing, the alarm stopped making sound. The alarm indicator was blinking when the alarm was supposed to be beeping, but there was no sound. I unplugged and plugged it back in which fixed the problem for about a week. The sound stopped again. It was not set on radio which can sometimes be an issue if it can't pick up radio stations. It was definitely on alarm. I unfortunately waited too long to return it and get a refund. Don't waste your money on this one.
