In 1986, The Monkees were finally back! Their reunion was one of the most successful concert tours of all time, lasting over three years, as it truly brought the band back into the forefront of modern pop and rock music history. During their 1987 concert season, Micky, Davy and Peter released their first studio album in over 16 years called Pool It!. The 80's rock classic has been out of print for years, that is until now. Friday Music is proud to announce the limited edition release of Pool It! now with 2 bonus tracks and a first time release of their "Heart & Soul" Videography on DVD!

The RajMan (Fan) Review
Contrary to “popular” and “critical” opinion, The Monkees’ first reunion album is a refreshing, reassuring, and welcome evolution of The Monkees’ classic 1960s sound into the late 1980s.With a couple of exceptions, the songs are written and performed by other composers and musicians, with Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, and Peter Tork providing lead vocals (Michael Nesmith didn’t participate in this reunion but would rejoin his comrades nine years later).Even though the “boys” are now in their 40s on this recording, they have never sounded better, especially with the hint of maturation in their voices. The music is basically light synth pop, with Dolenz handling the more upbeat tracks, Jones the more sentimental tunes (and one pop-rocker), and Tork the wacky Cars-like stuff. While all the songs are enjoyable, the one real standout is the dark and chilling “Midnight” sung by Dolenz. It sounds like something right out of the Miami Vice television series, and it would be a shame if it never played on the show as it would have been perfect for it.As for the overall musicianship of the backing band, the sprightly guitar work of Mark Christian sounds as slick and high-tech now as it did when I first heard the album as a 14-year-old teenager back in 1987.If you like The Monkees and 1980s pop music, ignore the naysayers and enjoy the warmth of this nostalgic and contemporary collection that’s full of heart and soul.

But he knows good music when he hears it
I bought it for my son when he was 10 and he wore the tape out. I have been trying to replace them with cds as I can financially. I expect him to wear this cd out too. Althrough he is much older now. But he is a high functioning Autistic and still lives with me. But he knows good music when he hears it.

A truly underated album from the 80's. I loved the classic Monkees TV series and music as a kid, and this album came out right around that time. This album is totally different than the sound and style the Monkees were known for in the late 60's, but it's absolutely fantastic! I bought this as a kid and happen to believe that this collection of fun, summer songs has gotten even better with age. Guaranteed happiness in a world that's falling apart.

Best $30 I ever spent
I have been looking for this CD for quite some time, but prices are in the stratosphere. This was advertised at $28, and arrived a few days BEFORE the estimated delivery date. The CD plays perfectly, and the case has no cracks and the artwork is crisp. I am VERY happy with this purchase. Thank you.

Great 80's Monkees POP!
What a treat to have Pool It! re-released on Blue Vinyl! Thanks Friday Music! The Monkees take a stab at the 1980's pop sound. With the exception of "She's Movin' In With Rico," the songs on this album are great! Peter Tork's songs sound bigger than usual with the production style of the 80's.

Another Friday Music disppointment
This review is purely for the quality of the record. I have yet to find a Friday Music release without a problem of some kind. This record arrived unsealed in a loose poly sleeve. It was badly warped, but playable - if it wasn't for the frequent crackle and pops. Returned, thanks to Amazon.

Not happy
This record arrived promptly, but would not play. The needle skipped accross the record on both sides. I assume it was a fault when the LP was pressed. Luckily the return process was easy.
