The Book of Broadway: The 150 Definitive Plays and Musicals Hardcover – August 1, 2015

I love all of the pictures and wide range of shows this book contains! I discovered so many new shows through this book, and found the summaries to be informative, but not to the point where the plot of each show is given away! No spoilers, just great information. (Wish it had Hamilton! If it was published later it would!)

I read this compendium of the author's top plays cover-to-cover over a week. The memories flew back on those I have seen, and there were deicious tidbits on the shows and performers throughout. I made a list of 17 shows I have never seen but will now search for their revivals. Too bad the author didn't rate 250 as that would have made for a great second week. I did just put his book on Hair on my Christmas list for my wife to "surprise" me with.

Bought this, along with Razzle Dazzle for my daughter for Chanukah! This book is a fine coffee table book and is great for reminiscing all of the shows that we've seen over the years. We have a season subscription here in Ohio so some of these haven't gotten here yet or are being re-produced from the original. It's great to read about the original ones (such as Porgy & Bess, West Side Story, and others that are back on stage after 25 or 30 years.

Great book but when I placed my order there was a different cover showing and it was a MUCH better cover but when my shipment arrived it had the boring yellow cover instead ( the image is now updated ) so that is pretty disappointing.

Bought this for our grandson.....he LOVES it! He said it had every show he knew of and talked about it in detail....good purchase.

A fascinating look at Broadway from the 19th century to today. Written with insight and humor, _The Book of Broadway_ is informative, entertaining, and--with two pages on each of Grode's 150 picks--addictive reading. It's a big, lavishly illustrated book (coffee-table sized)--seriously, if I could pick it up, I wouldn't be able to put it down! I recommend it highly.

Bought this for my Grandson, a talent agent in New York, but of course I had to read it first...may buy another for MY coffee table. This is the history of the TOP 50 Broadway Shows with glorious photo's, background info on the actors and behind the scenes of the productions.

I love it so much!
