WORKS AS EXPECTED - WHICH IS GREAT!
I can't believe how EFFICIENT this little thing is! It can produce about the SAME vacuum as the electric device that sits on my counter used for the storage bags!!! I'm not joking here, people. This thing WORKS!The way I get MAXIMUM vacuum (I feel) is by actually PULLING towards the end of the vacuum cycle. What I mean is, I don't just pump DOWN all the time. I wait until the vacuum is about where it should be, then I give it several more push downs, followed by sharp pull UPS ... DOWN - UP - DOWN - UP. I feel by sharply pulling UP between say the last five-to-ten downward strokes I am producing the best vacuum possible. All I KNOW for sure is this thing works GREAT for vacuum sealing jars with a good sealing ring in the lid.Using a pickle jar, making sure it was completely DRY after washing it out, I filled it with my FAVE nut, pistachios, put the lid firmly on, pierced the hole in the cap's center, placed an included seal strip of the hole, and then pumped away like my life depended on it - lol! This was about EIGHT months ago (I did not have mine yet; borrowed friends!). When I open the nuts a few weeks ago - FRESH AS THE DAY I PLACED THEM IN!!! I purchased MY pump that same day.IT FRIGGIN' WORKS, PEOPLE!OH! OH! There is this EXPENSIVE device you buy JUST for wines, that you use to create a vacuum in the bottle after you use say just HALF of the wine, and this is SUPPOSE to keep the wine fresh WAY longer than an opened bottle should... you've maybe seen this advertised, right? Well guess what? THIS PUMP can be used for the exact SAME THING! And our little pump cost WAY less than the dedicated thing for just wine bottles. I have used this mentioned application ONLY for the screw-cap types of wines, but I have heard of others using special plastic or silicon disks and a 3-D printed 'interface' that goes between the pump and top of the wine bottle's end that the disk sits on top of. When you PUMP, the up-stroke raises the disk, which pulls the air out, and when you press DOWN the disk is sealed onto the bottle opening by the vacuum. You have to make sure everything is CLEAN and the disk fits/seals well. Now, get yer butts out there and go get your own before they are all sold out! GO! GET IT! NOW!!! lol

So far so good
Really easy and sturdy. I used it with some reusable plastic ziploc-like bags that already have the little round vacuum sealing air vent in them. Just lay the bag flat, stick the suction cup plunger right over the top of the circle and pump. They have instructions for using it to vacuum pack regular Ziploc or other bags but it looks like a pain in the neck (you have to create and maintain an airtight seal while you're pumping then sealing - so you have to close the top first, just leaving a little bit open at end to poke a little tube through and follow the steps for getting a seal. It can be done but seems like a pain in the neck for sure). If you're planning on doing a lot of vacuum sealing or want something really quick and easy like for packing up snacks before you head out the door or putting away leftovers regularly, then buy some reusable zipper bags that already have the vacuum seal airlock. You can use the same bags just like regular ziplocs too so you can open it while you're out and about (which of course breaks the vacuum seal) and then re-close to keep using as a regular snack bag.

I can save my stash of pandemic food now
I bought up a large quantity of beans and rice and they are all in these plastic bags. I know it won't stay fresh long and if I get any critters in the house they can chew right into it and then my food will be worthless. I have a foodsaver but it doesn't have a place for the hose to attach and vacuum seal jars, so I didn't want to buy yet another foodsaver because I have no more room for big appliances anymore. So what does one do??? Then I found this gadget. Perfect to use without any other equipment except my arms and fingers. And the price is not bad either. It arrived today and I must say I am having fun canning up my rice and beans. What I love the most is that you don't have to buy a bunch of special bottles. Use that spaghetti jar you saved, use an old jelly jar, or your ball canning jars. Just punch a small hole into the top of any jar and place the tab over the hole then pump the handle. I get an arm workout and protect my food who could want anymore??? :) Being single I don't eat a lot of food so I buy in bulk often and then before I can eat everything up some of the food goes bad but with this device I can vacuum out all of the air and have it stay fresh for a lot longer. The good part is that the tabs are reusable so I won't have to keep buying new lids after one use of this pressure sealer. I am so glad I found this and if the grid goes down I can still use this gadget. I am so happy to have this - now have to find more jars to finish bagging up my rice and beans.

Useless piece of garbage
I wanted to love it, because I store a lot of chicken in my freezer, but it's totally useless. First off, you are supposed to "wet" the suction cup on the bottom so it will suction to the counter and stand on it's own. I'm guessing, these have been sitting around in someone's garage since the 80's and the plastic had hardened up and there is zero flexibility in the plastic, and it absolutely will not suction. Ok so I can hold the thing myself and pump. I oil the bag as instructed, I insert the tube into the zip lock freezer bag, put the foam over the entrance point, and pump my brains out and nothing, no vacuum seal whatsoever. Long story short after much reading and re-reading the instructions, watching the Youtube video and actually putting my finger over the tube hole to see if there is anything going on, there isn't. This thing is a stupid gizmo that does not work period. Save your money and buy a real vac sealing machine that works because this thing doesn't.

Pump
Works well for sealing jars with dried food.

Pricey
Very expensive for what it is. You could probably "Macgyver it" and make your own. However, it does work. Plus, if you can your food, this can put those used lids to good use. I like the product.
