and the internal mechanism works fine. Probably
Pros: this is very solid, and the internal mechanism works fine. Probably. But there are cons... first off, this does not have a flat back. There are two holes on the flange and the back is raised with a thick "x" shape in the brass. It was very difficult to try and mark level positions for the holes while it rocked. Constantly. It only quit after it was tightly screwed into place, which was equally annoying because I knew I would have to remove the screws one the walls were installed to adjust the surface level. Fun times since now I get to do the same thing but in a small hole with zero room for error. And I periodically loathe these kinds of inlets. Soldering all four points makes this valve extremely hot. I'm using PEX and the same valve is available with PEX fittings for the inlets only, but not the outlets??? This one was purchased accidentally and we had to use it, the time guys were coming the next day. The unused stem that is capped had to be removed and redone three times... and still leaks. The valve looks fine and we don't see how the valve is the problem but it makes no sense. We had to seal the wall stop the tile could go up but now have remove the hallway wall so we can get back in and continue to work on it, hopefully getting that thing to seal. It's incredibly frustrating and expensive to juggle so much construction work for a single inlet that STILL leaks. Again, I don't see how it's the valve unless the brass is warped. It's like it has a solder force field.

So far so good.
So far so good. I'm not really sure what all I can say about it other than it works. It does seem to keep the temperature more consistent than my previous valve. The plumber that installed it told me that he wished his company used these valves, and that he is trying to get them to switch to them. The one knock that I can give it is that the water pressure seems lower with this valve (same shower head) than the previous valve. So, if you already have low pressure, maybe it's not the best for you.

Typical Moen Quality
The valve is well made, and the instructions for installing are clear. My contractor/plumber did not space the valve mounting guide flush to the finish wall and he had to shim it out during final install to get the trim plate to fit properly. When we first turned the water on, we had no flow. A call to customer support walked us through changing the temp adjustment screws and every thing works fine.

Follow directions
If you are using a three way valve along with the temperature control valve make sure you don't just come out of the top of the bottom valve to feed the valve above it. You need to come out of the bottom port as shown in the picture and instructions to make it work right.
