Works for Some Content
This worked fine at first, but I noticed that as I tried to watch copy protected movies by Disney and other protected DVDs and Blue Rays that the sound was scrambled and instead of hearing the sound through my RCA connections all I can hear is a repeating noise which blocks the movie sound track. The sound works fine going through the HDMI cable connecting to the TV and if I watch any online content like Netflix, YouTube, or Hulu-Plus the sound works fine going through the HDMI Audio Extractor Splitter, so I assume that there must be something about the protected DVD movies that is preventing their soundtracks from being converted within this product and allowing the sound to then be directed through the RCA connections.

Great until it killed my Roku
This worked great for 1.5 years... then it shorted out and killed my Roku along with itself. It stopped working first, then I unplugged it. I tried to get it working later on and when I plugged in to see if it would work, it started to smell like burned components and then it killed my Roku. I guess it shocked my Roku to death through the HDMI cable.Normally, I don't post hate reviews, but figured I should warn others.

Perfect if you need an analog out for your Hdmi feed
This item solved the problem that I had trying to connect headphones to my sound bar. I am hard of hearing and my wife has excellent hearing. I use wireless headphones so that she can adjust the main volume to her level and I can adjust the headphones to my level. When we bought a new Sony soundbar I had a problem because when the sound bar was connected the TV speaker outlet was turned off and that turned off the wireless sending unit for my headphones as well. This little switch solved the problem. It took about 90 seconds to install it and it works like a charm.

It works, but needs work.
This could be a great product, but it lacks quality. It seems to be built fairly solidly, but the sound is off and very tin sounding and the video seems to cut in and out on occasion. The sound is perfectly in sync and this works if you are on a budget, but I would splurge and get a better one if possible.Pros:1. Great video quality.2. Feels Solid.Cons:1. Bad audio quality.2. Cuts in and out at times.3. Needs a power supply.

Can't do RCA output and HDMI surround simultaneously
Important detail: You can't output stereo audio through RCA and get 5.1 surround through HDMI at the same time with this device. My intention was to send stereo audio to my Sonos system to play throughout the house while still having surround sound in my home theater room. To do that, I had to use the optical output and then use a second device to convert the optical audio to RCA. It's not that big of a deal to use two devices I guess, but I really hoped this would do what I needed by itself and it seems like an unnecessary limitation. However, aside from that limitation it works fine.

Didn't work for me.
Didn't work well for me. Configured easily, but lost the audio signal every 10 seconds or so (dropouts). I used a very hi quality HDMI and Optical cable. Not sure why this happened, but I had to return it, which was disappointing because I ended up spending a lot more to buy an HDMI receiver. Which is exactly what I was trying to avoid by buying this box!

Works great.
Bought this because the TV I have doesn't have a SPDIF port and couldn't connect my Sound bar to it.. Seriously who makes $800+ without the SPDIF (audio fiber port).. Anyways works great and simple to set up.. initially I was getting a bit of crackling and sound was cutting out.. found it to be the cable wasn't seated right..Source HDMI- This thing- HDMI - TV SPDIF -sound barCons - all ports would be nice if they were in the back or something to give it a visual appeal.

It's Great !
This thing works great. I wanted to play movies on my laptop and watch them on my video projector, but getting the sound separated from the video to play it on my stereo system was a problem. Not any more, with the Elegiant Audio Extractor simply plug the HDMI out on the laptop into the Extractor and out of the extractor into the Video Projector. Then I plugged the optical out from the Extractor to the optical in on my Stereo and enjoy Hi Fidelity surround sound with my movies. It's Great !
