Decent overall fridge for the price but beware of ice dispenser issues
I've had this fridge for a year now. I've also read some other reviews and agree with some points and not others. Here goes...The one major issue for me is the ice dispenser. Others cited it's messy and seems to easily spill ice. I agree to a point but if one carefully places a cup or pitcher under the dispenser it will not spill so I can live with this annoyance. However in my experience there is something far more serious than the above noted problem:There is a small plastic door flap that opens and allows ice to flow out from the freezer's ice maker chute then through the dispenser nozzle on the outside of the freezer door into the ice/water dispenser chute. This plastic flap in the freezer door frequently gets stuck open due to ice cubes lodging in between the flap and the dispenser nozzle (see attached pic for an example). This is a serious problem if one lives in a humid environment like I do in Houston. When this door flap sticks open for several hours the entire freezer ices up on all surfaces and gets glazed over with a thick, hard, powdered film of ice. Literally every plastic wall surface, food item, etc. in the freezer ices up. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. The only good news is that if this happens you only need to remove the obstructing ice cube holding the plastic door flap open and then let the dispenser door flap close properly. Then wait overnight or maybe a day or so and the freezer's auto defrosting removes all the powdered ice film from the freezer. For this reason I find myself having to awkwardly bend over and look to verify the plastic door flap is properly -and- fully closed; or if it didn't, then pick out the obstructing ice cube after dispensing ice cubes.Note this does NOT happen when dispensing crushed ice.Lastly if you decide to forgo the door mounted ice dispenser and scoop cubed ice directly from the ice maker you're somewhat out of luck as the ice maker is designed with a -very- small access slot to the ice cubes that makes this impractical (see attached pic for an example). It can be done but at least for a large sized plastic cup, etc. this is impossible without the hassle of fully removing the ice maker from the freezer. The rest of the fridge functions as expected and seems of high quality as I'd expect from a Whirlpool appliance. Just know that if you plan on relying heavily on cubed ice through the door dispenser you may be disappointed with the hassles. Over I feel that at the $900 to $1000-ish price point this fridge is a great value (if you can live with the cubed ice dispensing problems).

Royal Pain in the Ice
After 10 months owning this fridge, we have consistently had issues with the icemaker. I learned that for crushed ice, you have to push your cup all the way back into the chute opener to avoid it spraying all over the kitchen. It does still drop ice cubes randomly on the floor even when you're not standing there. Now we have a new problem. For some reason, the ice bucket part is breaking, leaving sharp, jagged edged pieces of plastic and lots of ice cubes falling down into the frozen food area which then fall all over my beautiful wood floor and go everywhere when we open the freezer door. I guess the fridge is okay otherwise, but the leftovers and fresh fruits and vegetables go bad very fast. Reading the other reviews, I'll need to purchase a thermometer to check the cooling. Knowing all this, I would never advise anyone to buy this model.

Poor quality fridge
Poor quality fridge. Bought it a year ago from Costco. Ice maker sprays ice fragments everywhere. Repair guy looked and said it's simply poor design. I'm disappointed by the poor engineering. Whirlpool basically released a subpar product to the market.

A daily mess
The refrigerator is average, pretty good for the price. But if you use the ice make crushed or not crushed it makes a huge mess on my wood floor. My old refrigerator, my friends or family refrigerators never make such a huge mess. Yea occasionally a piece of ice falls but not 10 + pieces each time I use it no mater what I do.I would rather not get on my knees daily no matter how much money I'll save.

Problem prone
I ordered this refrigerator because it was the largest model I could find that would fit through my 29.25 in. kitchen door opening. After the installers left, the refrigerator could not be leveled, the instruction manual was incorrect, and both the freezer and filter doors did not close properly. The ice dispenser clogs, causing melt water to drip on the floor and then, 20 minutes later, randomly spits errant ice cubes on the floor. Seven months later, I have scheduled the eighth visit from a service technician to again try to fix these multiple problems.

Great fridge, constant ice so good for LA
Great fridge, constant ice so good for LA. Ice only sprays everywhere if you don't hold the cup upto it, makes sense.
