Worth its weight in gold!
I always wonder how well a product stands up with time, as well as its manufacturer's service and reputation.Ok....some products are great....for a while and then with time, their performance deteriorates and disapppointment sets in.This isn't the case with the Toilet Tree Irrigator. Both individuals in household have used it daily for more than 1 1/2 years with 2 tankfuls of water, each. Find this product to be effective, extremely reliable and flawless. The outstanding features include that it is cordless, rechargeable, occupies little real estate on counter and most importantly this manufacturer truly stands its product.I do follow the instructions explicitly and wipe this irrigator down after each use. Additionally am certain to replace the small recharging cover after recharging the unit. It a small and can easily be misplaced. Lastly, I remove and soak the tube in vinegar every 1-2 weeks to prevent mildew. As you can see, it requires little maintenance for the extraordinary job, it performs.Despite diligent oral hygiene regimen and regular biannual dental visits, had some plaque buildup at the rear of bottom front teeth. When asked dentist about it, the explanation included that it was caused by my anatomy. Well, the irrigator took care of that. Without a doubt this device helps those with periodontal disease, braces and bridges as well as those who exercise good oral hygiene.Whatever negative comments there are, they can easily be addressed. A larger tank might be appreciated but then it might be combersome to handle. It's just as simple to refill the tank. Could it take less time to recharge? Sure, but recharging it every 2 1/2 - 3 weeks based upon our frequent use-- is that really a issue? I don't think so.This product may not be perfect but it sure comes close! The excellent customer service is a huge bonus!!

Excellent addition to home dental care. Highly recommended.
First let me say that I am 72 years old, so I do have some gum recession which means that food traps more easily between the teeth than when I was younger. Before ordering the unit I asked my excellent dental hygienist whether she recommended that I use the oral irrigator. Her reply: "Absolutely! Why not, they are helpful in irrigating any debris and stimulating the gums. Your home care is always great but I know we are keeping an eye on your bleeding gums so adding one more tool to add to your daily regimen can never hurt."While I've only had my unit for a few days, I have been using it multiple times a day and comparing its results for me against those of dental floss. I find that it's results are almost, but not quite as good as flossing. After using it, while there is not much, I can still remove some debris with floss. On the other hand, if I floss first, this will remove very little, if any debris. But the ease of using it is such that I do so after almost any meal I eat at home. One can fill it quickly and use it for one tank of water after a meal to remove debris in under a minute or so. In other words it's not a big project, while for me, at least, correctly executed flossing is.Of course I had to try it as soon as I got it and did so without reading the brief instructions, which are, perhaps, a little too brief. You must use it at a 90 degree angle to the teeth and make sure you don't let the stream hit your tongue because that is painful!I will say that it is a large instrument in the hand compared to any electric toothbrush, and while it would be nice if it could hold more water, that would mean an increase in the girth of the unit which is large as is, but not uncomfortably so. Sometimes I fill the tank a second time, but that's ok. Just takes a few seconds through the large fill hole. I would suggest purchasing this "updated" version with the larger water tank. It is very powerful and I prefer using it on the gentle setting.

I'm a happy water flosser
This is an update to my original review. The original Poseidon died in less than a year. However, the company replaced it because it was under warranty, so I am a very happy camper there. Even so, I purchased the updated model, and I want to make a few comments about the updated model. First, the buttons are a bit easier to feel on the updated model than on the previous version; previously I would at times hit the change mode button when I was trying to turn the motor off. That is much less of a problem now, so that is a big improvement. Subjectively, it appears that the updated model is a bit more powerful. I don't have the means to measure the water pressure from the tip in the two models, but it feels stronger in the updated model, and that is good. About the only down side of this updated model is that to charge you have to remove a plug on the front of the unit and plug in a power cord. Now, I have to say that I have been using this for about a week now and it still doesn't need a charge, so this won't happen very often, but the problem is, when I do need to remove the plug for the 8 hours it takes to fully recharge, I need to find some place to put the small plug where it won't get lost. That is one design issue I wish the company would look at. Still, overall, I was happy with the first ToiletTree Poseidon unit, and I am very happy with the updated unit. I'll keep buying from this company as long as they keep up the excellent customer service and keep making quality products like these. This is my second water flosser. The first was a WaterPik brand and I was basically satisfied with it, but there were some issues that prompted me to try a different brand. Based on feedback from others, I decided to try the Poseidon, and I am glad I did. First, let me say that all of my evaluative comments are mine alone, and their are based on my subjective impressions, not on any physical measurement. The water tank on the Poseidon seems to be about the same size as the old WaterPik, but, as others have said, the water lasts for only about 1/2 of the flossing; I have to fill it once to finish the cleaning. I suspect this is because the Poseidon is pushing out a lot more water, so it only makes sense that a given volume would last a shorter period of time. It's not a big deal to have to refill. The reason I suspect the Poseidon is pushing out more water is that the water stream feels much stronger, even on the Soft setting (the one I usually use). I have learned that for me, the Normal setting is a bit too strong except when I have some really stuck food particles. So far, I have yet to find anything that the Normal setting couldn't remove (that is very different from the old one-speed WaterPik - I frequently had difficult-to-remove food left even after flossing). The Poseidon is easy to hold and easy to manipulate in my mouth. I have learned that I do need to hold it lower on the unit to avoid accidentally touching the Mode button, but that is no big deal, either. The only real concern I have, and the reason I gave this 4 stars, is that the fill for the water tank is at the bottom of the tank (as you are holding it for use). So far, it has not leaked, and filling is not a problem at all (I just turn the unit on its side so the opening is up - very easy to fill and to see the water level). However, it does make me a bit nervous having the fill at the lowest point on the unit. Should that ever fail, or should I somehow accidentally open it, it could be a big mess. Again, so far this has not been a problem at all, but I am cautious about what could happen. Even with these minor quibbles, I am very happy with this purchase. It works well, it cleans my teeth and gums well, it recharges easily, so I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone else, as long as you are aware of the few limitations.
