Lockdown Vault Hygrometer for Monitoring Humidity and Moisture Control in Gun Vault, Safe, Storage

This is a nice hydrometer. Wasn’t looking for anything digital because you have to replace the batteries and so forth. All I just need to know that it is under 50% for my safe. Came on time, packaged, well, and very easy set up. Came with a three and double stick Velcro And was able to attach to the inside of the door of my safe. With that in mind, it’s perfect for my needs. However, it is not 100% made of metal. It is plastic, which some may have problems with. I don’t, because it is the inside of the door and I’m not looking at it on a daily basis. I just wanna make sure when I open the door that it reads correctly. Which it does.I placed a couple anti-hydration silicon bags along with a warm up plug-in coil stick with two rubber in case silicon reusable anti- hydration units to keep the moisture down inside the safe. When I first started, it was at approximately 60%!humidity. Now with all the bags and anti-humidity items that I have in the safe to keep it from sweating, hydrometer is now stating it is under 40% and holding. Which is perfect. A good thing is I don’t have to worry about changing out batteries. So for that, I’m very happy with the purchase. You can go digital and so forth absolutely- but batteries explode, corrode and all…this, doesn’t need that... Accuracy, and all the bells dings and whistles, but as long as it stays under 50%, and I noticed no fluctuation in the humidity, I’m fine with it. Plus being that it’s inside steel safe. I don’t want the meter to rust from cheap steel or metal. So this does have a positive benefit for being plastic and it won’t rust as other ones tend to do. Great value happy to purchase. This was very easy to install and works prefect! I like that it is so simple too, seems like much less to go wrong and that it will last for years. It was also not expensive.

I got lucky. This hygrometer was correct right out of the box. One of the other reviews stated that they had to take it apart and set it--not me. I have 2 other hygrometers to compare it with, and this one is in agreement with both of them. But, I have only had it for 2 days. So far, so good. This is an inexpensive instrument in an equally inexpensive, plastic housing, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and try to remember that "you get what you pay for". Actually, this device is intended for a gun vault, but to me, a hygrometer is a hygrometer. I will only update this review if I become dissatisfied--I am neutral on recommendation. Update: After 4 days, it seems to be working just fine. One thing that I have noticed different from my other hygrometers, this one seems to track and measure changes more quickly. Still neutral.

Has a strong magnet on the back to hold it, very well made and easy to read.

I bought a number of these for my acoustic guitars. They're great, because they are made of light plastic and will not damage my guitars if jostled. As an extra precaution, I wrap them in a small cloth before putting them in my case.
