Comprehensive but not detailed.
This book is very thorough in covering areas of discrete mathematics that apply to the field. I would call this book a "survey". Like a good introduction to Calculus, it covers the topic; and, similarly, it is not detailed specifically. The warning I would give to students using this book is: it's brief. The first two sections of the first chapter are an entire semester in logic! So, you will need to read this book very carefully and seriously consider supplemental materials in areas that you're weak and/ or inexperienced.

Great help in a proofs class.
I had this book for a discrete math class about 10 years ago. I'm glad I held onto it. It's been great for a proofs class which uses a completely indecipherable text (A Transition to Advanced Mathematics). The text has answers for odd problems. The solution manual for the 4th Edition is still out there, I got a copy a month ago thru Amazon. The solutions are fully answered and mostly in English. A great combo if you're in a proofs/intro to higher math class.

Discrete Math Text
This book had everything I needed to tackle the subject except it couldn't fix my professor's thick accent. It did a good job with everything except the predicate logic, which I had trouble fully comprehending.

Caution: this is the Fourth edition
The "International Edition" I got is actually the Fourth Edition of the Rosen's Discrete Math books. There are quite some structure and content updates in the most recent 6th edition of the book. If you are just buying this book for self-study, it would be perfect. But if you are buying as a textbook, maybe it would bring you a little trouble. The biggest problem would be finding the right number for the exercises in your homework!

good source for problems, but hard to learn from
I used Rosen's book for a Discrete Math course given at the sophomore level. If I had to sum this book up in few words, I would say, Short on explanations and examples, but long on exercises. I almost gave this book 3 stars because of the abundance of problems, but with the poor exposition and simple examples, I just couldn't in good conscience. My advice is to find another book from which to learn, but check out the problems to enhance your knowledge.
