JOYO Metal Distortion Pedal with 3 Band EQ and Low-Mid-High Gain Boost for Electric Guitar Effect - Bypass (Extreme Metal JF-17)

The Joyo Extreme metal pedal is a copy of the EHX Metal Muff I believe, it's a very good pedal however, I primarily dabble in thrash metal (80s-90s Metallica type stuff) it's perfect for this and gets the tone just right, I've never had a pedal or amp for that matter with an EQ so this is a nice change of pace, the mids are almost always down on mine and the highs and lows up, this accomplishes the sound perfectly, it also does heavy metal very well too, if I feel like doing some Slipknot, SOAD, Seether, etc I tune down and plug this bad boy in, it has a very punchy aggressive tone and can even do like an overdrive type thing, this pedal is definitely worth it, especially for the price

I bought this pedal because I wanted something to give my amp a sharper sound. The boost on this pedal seems to be a top boost, not a regular volume boost. The treble, bass & mid knobs are responsive but the drive knob is a little crazy (but that is probably what you want from this pedal). The EQ is passable, the distortion character is reminiscent of the Boss Metal Zone, but not quite as annoying and the EQ helps better on this pedal to make it useable. I personally like this pedal with the drive almost all the way down, Bass/Mid/Treble & Boost around 9 o'clock and the level around 3 o'clock.

Sounds pretty close to EH metal muff w/o the cost. No complaints.

Mine makes a high pitched noise when I use bypass but not with distortion. Distortion is decent for classic rock to modern metal.

Good pedal for it's price. Built extremely durable in a metal case, knobs sturdy plastic. Enjoy the versatility of the 5 distortion knobs and even though the boost isn't the greatest it is nice to have the added feature. Big chunky driving sound with the only downside being the boost. Would rate 4.5 if possible but solid pedal overall for it's price point.

1st pedal arrived non functional Replacement pedal works but sounds pretty rough and doesn't work well. Not something I'd be able to use on my board. Should have bought beer with the cash

I needed something that can get a high gain metal sound to play Metallica & megadeth type stuff. This thing is amazing!! Sounds like a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier for a fraction the cost.

This pedal is exactly what I was looking for…Great distortion sound and easy to set up..

Looking at the reviews online, people would compare it a lot to a Mesa Dual Rectifier but un reality it's a clone of the EHX Metal Muff with top boost... that being said, it's still a nice pedal for the most part.Pros:- Sturdy metal housing- Powerful EQ gives a wide range of sounds- White knobs and writing makes it easy to see even on dark stagesCons:- Boost switch is way to bright and pretty much unusable- Large footprint so not crowded pedal board friendly- Lows get muddy when knob is set at it's maximum

For the money it is a decent metal pedal. To my ear, there is a fairly narrow range of settings where I achieve the kind of chug I'm looking for, but I can find a sound I like. I use an eq to try and take some of the fizziness out of the sound as well, but that's maybe a personal preference. I like a deeper chug.
