Great Resource
All three Old Gausrd volumes are first class. I hope they release future volumes covering the French Hussars.

A Magnificent Volume
This book is quite magnificent - massively expanded from the original H&C on the same subject - although it should be noted that the book is not a complete coverage of the Guard's mounted units and there must be a second volume planned (all of the more junior regiments are still to be covered - Gardes d'Honneur, Gendarmes d'Ordonnance, etc.).There are some silly proof-reading errors where captions have been "swapped" between illustrations and also some very odd translations which could cause the unwary to trip up, both of which could so easily have been avoided by passing the book to a native English-speaker prior to publication. These are not 'deal breakers' however but just something to be aware of and cautious about.Undoubtedly though the illustrations will be why many will buy this book and these are quite magnificent, and in Joineau's clear and precise style. There are many new illustrations and a lot of additional text compared to the original edition and I would unreservedly recommend the book to anyone interested in the uniformology of the Napoleonic Wars.

ottimo acquisto!
peccato che non sia in italiano, l'ho regalato a mio papà, appassionato di questo periodo storico, che è rimasto molto soddisfatto per le immagini e i dettagli.

Another good book from the same authors
Another good book from the same authors, with all of the usual excellent art work. My only criticism is that unlike the volume on the Infantry of the Guard, this volume does not have a page showing all of the dates of the formation and disbandment of the units.
