Quality Product
This mat is very substantial. Smooth top and rubber back, in a very nice storage bag. Bought for Mahjong, but it will also be nice for Yahtzee and dominoes.

Just like a giant mouse pad
Works perfect for playing cards on our dining room table. Its same material as a mouse pad, and great size and color for cards.

Perfect mahjong mat
This mat is thin and doesn't move on the table. Tiles move smoothly on it. The mat muffles the tile noise. It comes rolled in a tube with a nice carrying case. No creases, lays flat.

Thick and flexible table protector
Originally bought this to protect our table from the mahjong tiles but now we use this for all our games. The mat is nice and smooth on the top and underneath is rubber throughout. The rubber helps keep the mat in place on whatever hard surface you may lay it on. The thick material is great for protecting whatever table surface from getting damaged from the mahjong tiles. It is very easy and flexible to roll right back up and put away for storage with the help of the cardboard roll it came with. It also comes with two little Velcro straps to keeps this long mat from unraveling in storage. And if you have pets, it’s a pet hair magnet. So keep a lint roller close by if this bothers you. Definitely a great buy if your looking for a table protector mat.

Lays flat immediately - (Game of Thrones) Giant sized .. mouse pad ;)
This is a big, extra thin mouse pad. They probably said "Hey, we're already making these mouse pads, and have all the equipment handy. Let's make them thinner and much larger, and sell them as game playing surfaces."An essential Mahjong accessory, if you're not already using a special table surface. If it were much thinner than this, it'd be difficult to put away after a game. Have not yet tried to roll it up, after use. There's two prominent striations (stripes) where the (color matching!) green velcro-ish ties (two included) held it (in a rolled shape) during shipping. In somewhat dim lighting, did not see the striations, and forgot about them until accidentally viewed at a favorable angle. Did not seem to affect Mahjong play (at all) and quickly disappeared from one's attention. Would get half a star deducted for aesthetics, for this one thing (and would probably need a different binding system to keep it rolled during transit, to have avoided this entirely).Have not tried any other pads, so no comparisons to make. I would say the mouse pad I used to have was of a slightly coarse weave compared to this one's finished (green) surface. Back is black, barely glanced at it for any kind of inspection.Works surprisingly well, partially unrolled. Did not completely unroll the mat, at first; found a table extension to lay the rest of it out, an hour after initial lay-out (partial) and inspection (played Mahjong solitaire preliminaries for a test drive).Other than the chemical smell, this one could be used for game night, the same day it was received in shipping. It's well-behaved (the end closest to the core, when rolled up, didn't curl at all - amazing, really). The core was nondescript; should probably take a look at it and see what it's about. Seemed visually a bit under-specified (like they just barely got it stiff enough for a single use) but on the other hand, it seems to have held its shape (glancing at it from across the room; haven't inspected it properly). The shipping box is an Amazon external box and is pretty well matched to this pad, dimensionally - seems suitable for at least a dust cover (when this pad is stored in the closet).Transmits the thump of a played Mahjong tile, definitively - lots of acoustic and tactile feedback. Good tile sliding action. Doesn't seem to snag (though this review was written in humid late summer, when hands aren't dry).Would prefer more acoustic damping in a similar product; that may be orthogonal to the thin dimension of a mat such as this one.Bigger than expected (but exactly as measurements state, plus or minus half an inch .. did not remeasure before writing this review). Still getting used to a new 36x36" table this goes onto. Still seems big (but the 40 mm Mahjong tiles definitely take up this space, so it's all good). This mat (when first unpackaged) is somewhat outgassing of chemicals - chemically sensitive persons might want to at least air it out before use. Did not notice this (at all) the following day (left on the table overnight). The rolled up version (as shipped) is about as thick as a rolling pin (for baking) plus some (depending on the rolling pin). Can't think of a commonly known circle of this size, for cross-section comparison (when rolled).Definitely would fit in a mailing tube (by eye, anyway; haven't tried and do have one from an art supply store - from long ago). The tube I have probably isn't quite long enough, though. The shipping bag is semi-durable - would last at least one reuse, if opened carefully. They tied an overhand knot in the end of a long tube shaped plastic bag. That has to be untied (to preserve its full length; generous enough to easily tie a knot in it).Gave a ding on price (I'd give it a solid 4 stars, if the price were more to my liking). Should be acquired only using free shipping; this price plus shipping puts it into the "I think I can do better" category, afaiac. ;)Five stars for giftable. Four stars overall (I decided not to ding it too hard on a price basis). Four stars for sturdiness. Value for money, two stars (so there's my ding).I would buy it again, but I would also keep a sharp eye out for other offers, or the same product at a reduced price (price-stalking through a wish list monitoring system, for example). Not sure what happens when it comes time to clean it or toss it.This is a lot of square inches, of rubberized such-and-such (wanted to say 'rubberized fabric' here) .. to repurpose.Could be pretty handy for crafts, perhaps (cutting out the sections that are more clean or in better shape, after much use for intended purpose).A good sharp set of scissors are (very likely) all that would be needed, to cut this into sections; probably would go okay cutting it on a (office supply type of) cutting board (meant to cut paper or photographs down to trimmed sizes).

PERFECT NON-CREASED MAT
This beautifully finished mahjongg arrived wrapped around a cardboard tube so there was not a single crease on it that was a problem or need to be repaired. Excellent, excellent mat.

Nice neoprene mat
I have a highly patterned countertop with overhead pot lights and cards or boards from games tend to glare and get lost in the pattern. They are also a pain to pick up. This helps with both. Perfect size, doesn’t smell weird, lays flat, and even comes with two hook and loop strips to hold it shut. Very handy and worth it.
