Q: Is it a pump spray? Or aerosol press and hold spray?

This is an Aerosol product. Depress the actuator located under the protective flip top to release the product. Release the pressure to stop the spray.

Q: Can this one be deployed at any angle (e.g. held horizontally if I'm pinned to the ground) or must it be held upright to discharge correctly?

While we do have models that can be shot from any angle this model needs to be held upright. For further questions feel free to call customer service at (800) 325-9568.

Q: Does this contain tear gas? If so, what is the percentage?

As I understand it, it contains pepper gel... not tear gas.

Q: Does the canister inside have a label with instructions?

No. The canister is one piece, a self-contained unit. You flip up the top and push the button inside down and the spray comes out. I haven't used it, but I've looked at it. It appears to be very easy to use and looks to be very safe to avoid accidental discharge because of the safety cap.
