Pretty Nice Laptop
First of all, I don't give out 5 star ratings, but this laptop is a solid 4+ stars. My review is very subjective and you can get raw performance numbers elsewhere. It is lightweight and checks all the boxes of the features I need. The Ryzen 7 processor is super fast and boot up from opening the lid is about 5 seconds. It comes with 3200 8gb ram which I will upgrade to 16gb soon. The 1TB SSD is made by Intel and provides me with plenty of storage. It has all the USB connections I need. No USB-C charging, but I don't mind. It is very lightweight and easy to carry around with my Macbook Pro in my backpack. My background is in software engineering and I have a Macbook Pro and PC on my desk. This sucker is much faster that my 2018 Macbook Pro and I never hear the Asus CPU fan running. I do hear the Macbook Pro fan running quite frequently and it is annoying. This Asus is very quiet and runs cool. But maybe it will run hotter if I stream a lot and play some intensive games. I use this laptop for general purpose and my software development activities. For that, it is perfect for me. I'm still a Macbook guy and will continue to buy them because the technology and build quality ensures that it has the life cycle and 3 PC laptops without going obsolete. When I first got this, the new Windows 10 updates maybe took a total of 15 minutes. There were probably 8 or 9 updates and they all downloaded and installed very quickly. My other Lenovo Flex 15 laptop with the Intel 10nm 1065G i7 processor, 16GB memory, and 512 SSD took about 45 minutes to do a similar Windows 10 update. I am very impressed with the 7nm Ryzen 7 processor. This Asus is way better than the Lenovo. Don't know if it is the Ryzen 7 or just the overall engineering of the Lenovo unit. I do know that I built many PCs in the past with ASUS motherboards and was never disappointed. The only negative is that the screen can be brighter. The screen quality is good, but additional brightness would be welcome. As I use this indoors 99% of the time, I have no issues with brightness or being outside. For those who want a nice screen, go pay the price and get something better. Finally, the battery life is typically about 5 to 6 hours between charges. It can probably go more, but I get battery anxiety and don't let the battery fall below 20% very often. Other reviews regarding Asus Vivobook battery consumption were not based on the Ryzen 7 that I have seen and many were using Intel 10nm processors or other Ryzen processors that were not the 7nm technology.

"Thin & Light" = terrible cooling
Good machine for light office tasks, browsing, STREAMING video, and other uses that DO NOT stress the CPU or integrated GPU (also part of the CPU).However - playing HD video files locally (from the laptop drive) makes the CPU work a bit harder, and within five minutes or less, the system overheats and powers itself down.Because of the "Thin & Light" design of the laptop, the cooling is terribly inefficient and ineffective for the CPU if it actually has to do any work. This design may work okay for a Ryzen 3 or 5, lower-wattage chips with less cores and lower TDP (heat and power draw). But for this Ryzen 7 4700U, working the CPU at all leads to overheating.I've tried using a cooling pad with fans and there is little effect, as the 'vents' on the bottom of the fan are barely functional, and there are no fans inside of the vents and interior of the laptop case. There is a heatpipe cooler on the CPU with one TINY fan (30mm?) stuck in a small pocket the heatpipe passes over. Again, no actual, functional vent to allow airflow. If you need a light laptop for light office tasks, this would fit the bill. But so would a $300 Dell machine. You're basically paying $800+ for how light it is. Just don't expect processing power to work without it killing the system. Definitely not a DTR or media-capable laptop.

Not bad
Listing for laptop is confusing. The option I picked was for 16gb ram/memory and top came with 8gb. Listing says supposed to have 4.1 ghz processor speed and my top is registering only 2 ghz. It's not a bad top but specs differ from listing.

Can you ask more for $699?
Overall the laptop had me speechless.Yes, I know the screen does not do very well on the outside, but the nits are the same as way more expensive laptops.Other than that, the Ryzen 7 4700u is a beast, 1TB SSD is a dream and the keyboard is great. The touchpad could be better, but nothing to complain about. If you're planning on using it on the move, it's super portable as it's quite lightweight for its dimensions.

Mid range laptop. Good for the price.
This is a middle of the road laptop. Not a super light. Not a gaming laptop as far as speed goes.A good utilitarian everyday laptop. Does NOT have a ethernet port.

Good budget laptop
It is my first laptop. Fast speed cpu with good looking. Nice build quality at this price. I confirmed that Asus have provided 1 yr international warranty. The only thing is that it doesn’t support pd charging, the battery may not enough that only 6-7 hrs with battery saver mode.

A good laptop
This is an amazing laptop, but I would not recommend it for full time gaming. It is fine for some games but in games such as fortnight it suffers in graphics.
