The Fiery Heart: Bloodlines, Book 4

The Fiery Heart is undeniably a brutal novel that offers nothing but a passionate love & heartbreak. Bloodlines best installment
We can all agree writing a review isn’t easy, especially if the book hit you in a way you were completely not expecting. The Fiery Heart is one of those rare cases. I was anticipating this book for literally months but I didn’t foresee that It would get such a very strong reaction from me and by strong I meant WHY DID YOU END LIKE THAT RICHELLE MEAD! I GOTTA HAVE SILVER SHADOWS NOW-I HAVE NEEDS, LIFE-IS-OVER kind of response. After finishing reading The Fiery Heart in one sitting, I’m 100% sure I suffered a mental breakdown and post the-fiery-heart-depression. It wasn’t easy. I can’t cope up just yet.The Fiery Heart picks up not longer after The Indigo Spell ended, Sydney and Adrian are struggling to keep their relationship off the radar and with her sister Zoe around. Everything is not as easy as it seems. Working with Marcus has changed her perspective and beliefs with the Alchemista and Sydney must now make a decision that would gravely impact the life she was raised with. The new dual point-of-view is flawless. With a distinction between Sydney and Adrian’s point of view the shifting chapters flow smoothly, It’s not confusing and very relatable in that you could perfectly see everything from their perspective. It’s very refreshing to finally get inside Adrian’s head. We had know him since Frostbite but we never had the chance to get to know intimately until Bloodlines. In The Fiery Heart we see him more in a vulnerable and strong perspective. We get to know his past and what kind of inner demons he’s battling.Adrian and Sydney’s relationship move to the next level, I couldn’t help but to be proud of them. Sydney Sage raised the bar of heroines. She’s one of a kind. There are no words to describe how empowering her character is as a reader and as a woman. I’m trying not to be biased but she’s simply one of the best protagonists and heroines I’ve ever read and encountered. Adrian, my poor lost soul. He’s quirky, witty, handsome, and swoonable (that’s a word I invented only for him alone.) There’s no boring moment with him. They are quite a pair. They are no doubt today’s Young Adult best well written couple. All of the characters had gone through great character developments. Kudos to you Richelle. It warms my heart to see the Vampire Academy characters back once again. It’s like a dream come true. I couldn’t ask for any better reunion except next time to have Jill, Eddie, Angeline and the rest of the gang at court. The tone of The Fiery Heart is the usual Richelle Mead kind of thing. It has witty comebacks, passion, heartbreak, sorrow, revenge and despair. The Fiery Heart is as real as it get. Bloodlines was the introduction or should I say the debut novel of the series. in The Golden Lily Sydney unravels some discoveries about herself and her feelings. In The Indigo Spell she come to terms with how she really feels and re-evaluates her definition of right and wrong. In The Fiery Heart it was a rush of emotions. This book is filled with passion. It will make you swoon. Like I said there’s Mead humor in it and you can’t help but laugh out loud. This book is not just about blissful sunsets. The Fiery Heart is dark in a terrible kind of way. Richelle perfectly captured the crack of the story, the harsh, brutal system that would tear your heart apart. The Fiery Heart grabbed me from the moment I started reading it. I savored and devoured every page of it. Mead is ruthless enough to throw a lot of twists out there that would make the readers sad and emotional. Yeah, I anticipated that particular pivotal moment were going to happen but It still doesn’t make it any easier to cope up with all of the consequences. Futhermore, Richelle Mead outdoes herself once again. The Fiery Heart exceeded all my expectations. The cliffhanger will leave you with a bitter feeling that will make you ache for Silver Shadows. I cannot wait enough for the next installment of this series. All I know is Richelle Mead never disappoints. The Fiery Heart is undeniably a brutal novel that offers nothing but a passionate love & heartbreak. Bloodlines best installment yet.

5 Stars
Warning!! This review contains spoilers for earlier books in the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series.Every time I think Richelle Mead can't make me fall more in love with her Bloodlines series, she completely proves me wrong. And I couldn't be happier about it! The Fiery Heart takes place shortly after the conclusion of The Indigo Spell with Sydney and Adrian's worlds continuing to get more complicated. I loved almost everything about this book from the evolution of Sydney and Adrian as characters and a couple to the side characters to the supernatural setting as a whole.I have mentioned this in almost every review of a Bloodlines book, but I feel like it needs to be repeated. I absolutely adore Sydney! I am still a huge fan of Rose from Vampire Academy, but I connected with Sydney immediately and am so happy with the way that she is being developed. This book showcases how much she has grown comfortable with the Moroi/dhampir world and that she is thinking for herself rather than relying on the Alchemists' rhetoric to run her life. But, despite all these changes, it is still nice to see the main parts of her personality remain strong from her love of structure to her intelligence to her work ethic.Adrian is just one of those characters that seems to jump from the pages in every scene he is in. Like Sydney, he has evolved in a way that I did not think was possible upon his first meeting. The Fiery Heart is very important for his character growth because he is forced to really look at his reliance on spirit and what it is doing to his mental state. He takes some pretty big steps to showing others (besides Sydney) how valuable he is to the future of his race and I loved every minute of it.Something different in The Fiery Heart is the fact that it is told from both Sydney and Adrian's points of view. The author has stated that it was important for the future of the series because of the growing scope of the plot. I think it really makes the book stand out because, for the first time, readers are getting to see into Adrian's mind and truly understand his view of the world he lives in. One thing that did surprise me when reading this book was how well-balanced the alternating pov chapters were. Usually this writing style can make a reader feel rushed or annoyed, but that never happened to me.Another thing that makes me love the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series is the development of the side characters. Long-time series fans have spent a lot of time with these people and it is wonderful to see them return. I loved getting to see more of Jill, Angeline, and Trey. Plus I have a huge soft spot for Eddie and my heart just broke for him at the end of the book. He is such a strong guardian, but has some vulnerabilities that are hidden deep down. It was also tons of fun to get some more interaction with Dimitri, Rose, Lissa, and Christian. There are two main new secondary characters that I enjoyed meeting and seeing how they become a part of the larger cast. First, there is Zoe Sage (Sydney's younger sister) who is sent to Palm Springs by the Alchemists to help her sister keep an eye on the Moroi. Her appearance really complicates Sydney's life because she is forced to hide how close she has become with everyone. Then, there's Neil, a new dhampir who is obsessed with his duty to the point of being an annoyance. His straight-laced first impression hides someone who truly believes in their duty and wants to do anything to help. The Fiery Heart continues to help develop two of the main plot lines in the series. The Moroi are continuing to make advances in their attempts to use spirit to fight against the Strigoi. This book brings about the possibility of immunization of Moroi and dhampirs which could be quite a change in the whole war. Readers also get to see Sydney continue her work on breaking the mind control within the Alchemist tattoos with the help of her increasing magical prowess. Both of these plot lines have taken major step forwards and I am excited to see where things go from here.In conclusion, I continue to be impressed with this series and how it manages to keep the story lines fresh and the characters ever-changing. Sydney and Adrian are amazing (together and individually) and Richelle Mead knows how to get the most of their collective personalities. The only thing I have left to say is that I cannot believe I have to wait until July of 2014 to see what happens next especially because of that killer ending. Highly recommended!!

I enjoyed the Vampire academy book series but I found the Bloodlines series to be much more enjoyable. I think I am the only person to feel this way but Richelle Mead has created an amazing unique world and it only makes sense that the more we learn about it, the more it fascinates us. It takes place in the same world of the dhamphir, the Moroi and the Strigoli but now we learn even more about the Alchemists, in particular Sydney. When she was first introduced into the Vampire academy books, I did not enjoy her character. She was self-righteous, looked down on everyone and could not see the world outside of her own Alchemist upbringing. This series brings us more information about the background that shaped her views and chronicles the changes she faces as her love with Adrian continues to grow. A new challenge occurs in this book in the form of her sister arriving.Overall, the plot continues at an appropriate pace and you definitely get drawn into the world. I do not want to spoil the ending but it definitely leaves you wanting nothing more than for the final book to come out.

Simplesmente apaixonante!
MARAVILHOSO!!!!
