Best mod.
Installed this on a 2006 325i. Took me a few hours to install. The install wasn’t hard, but it was definitely annoying in certain spots. Also bought a ZHP knob. The shifts are awesome, super notchy, short and direct. Absolutely love it. Totally recommend this to anyone.

Purchased for 2010 e89 z4 sdrive35i
Note: Dinan does not officially say that this product fits a 2010 e89 z4 sdrive35i but I decided to risk it. Dinan does report, however, that this short shifter kit fits the 135i and 335i.I installed the product through the opening in the floor pan as I do not have an easy method of lifting my car to facilitate the removal of the exhaust. This was difficult, but doable. The kit contains two washers to be added to the shifter linkage pin to obtain OEM spacing where the shifter rod connects but I could only fit one on the pin.The short-shifter works as advertised and there is a slightly shorter throw. The issue is that the modification causes the shifter linkage to rub on the cast aluminum carrier assembly (this is what holds the shifter rod in place) but what is more worrisome is what happens due to this interference. At the end of the shifter linkage there is a pin that goes through the shifter rod. On this pin there is a snap ring groove that a clip slides onto as to prevent the pin from dislodging itself from the shifter rod (which would leave the car in the current gear and not allow the operator to shift through the gears anymore). The clip that rides in this groove can get pushed out of the snap ring groove by the cast aluminum carrier assembly due to the contact the two make during operation. I noticed a rattling noise in 6th gear at 70+ mph and upon further investigation found the clip to be loose. Which is when I discovered the wear on the shifter and that the clip was loose as described above.I would NOT recommend this product for an e89 z4. Build quality is good and install is relatively easy. I'm sure this product is great for a 135i or a 335i but not an e89 z4.TLDR: This product doesn't fit an e89 z4.

This really shortened the shift throw noticeably, shifts are much more engaging. There are a few things to note:- The install was a PITA. You have to reuse a plastic cup for the swivel point. I heated it up with a heat gun (blow dryer) to make it easier. Not a lot of room to work.- Couldn't get the second washer to fit at the base so I only used one.- It rattles a bit under load in low RPM. Also makes a weird sound in 1st & 2nd at the top end of rev range. Nothing to worry about but a slight annoyance, I think its partially due to reusing the old shift knob and it being a bit loose.- There is a noticeable click when going into gear.- 1st and 2nd can be a bit notchy

Very happy!!!
2011 328i. Works perfectly! Significant decrease in throw. I can leave my arm on the arm rest and change with my wrist. It does increase effort though, you get used to it pretty quickly. Installation wasn't hard, it took about 45 minutes. You do have to get under the car though. Well worth the money for a great product! I wouldnt go back!!!

Awesome upgrade!
With this thing installed on my 335, all I can say is wow. What a difference. Take your time learning this shifter, dont force it. Dinan says throw is reduced by 20 - 25% but it feels like more than that to me. It feels awesome, but seriously you have to learn the shifter. Money shifting would be very easy to do and very unforgiving. With this and a ZHP shift knob, my shifter is complete. Perfect. Wouldnt change it. Feels notchy and smooth, no play at all when in gear.

Its good after 2hrs. Lol
Shorter throw, notchy, has a distinctive click when you're into gear. Reduces a lot of slop, its distinctively shorter. I love it 2 down sides no instructions and does not lock into place. You have to use the plastic locking Bushing from the factory shifter. It goes over the blue cup. It was kinda a pain but overall its a very practical part and i will and would recommend it.
