Easy install, very little blood spilled.
My pops gave me a really nice leather La-Z-Boy rocker recliner. He asked me if I wanted it because they were delivering a new one and would take the old unless I took it home. I asked what's wrong with it? Oh the seat gave out. Well can it be fixed? I don't know, I just ordered another. So we flip it over and it's got a broken spring. I'm like, well I know that can be fixed. So I took it home.Called an upholstery repair shop, quoted $100. No, thank you! So I measured the spring and ordered this set of 2 springs. Figured I'd have a spare for when the next spring blows. Install was fairly easy. Got a couple small cuts in the process, which seems mandatory whenever you're fixing something like this or working on your vehicle.Removing the old spring from the clips holding it to the paper covered wire that keeps the springs from moving laterally was an issue at first. Those clamps are secured very tight. To loosen them I simply twisted the old broken spring left and right to force the clips open, then used a flat blade screwdriver to open them enough to remove. After hooking the new spring on the existing hardware anchor at one end, I used an Irwin Quick Clamp woodworking clamp to stretch the spring out so I could hook the other end up. Then I crimped the clips back over the spring and lateral paper covered wire. Don't skip this step. Now the chair is as good as new.I did not rate for sturdiness because I won't be able to tell for some time how durable the spring is. But otherwise I give this a big thumbs up!

Gauge too heavy for recliner back.
It's too bad these companies don't provide the proper size springs for lighter applications ( like a recliner back.) No one carries the kits with say 11 or 12 gauge springs pre cut.You have to buy like 10 feet and cut and crimp the ends with another tool. I wouldn't mind that if I was in the biz of fixing chairs, but I only want to fix the one I have. Not to mention most la-z-boy recliners since the early 2000s use a lot of particle board for the framing. Try and screw into the edge of particle board with the pull of an 8 gauge spring. Someone will lose an eye eventually.Use case for these are only for a sofa or recliner seat and preferably not ones framed out with particle/press board. And if you do use it for a seat please use a spring puller and safety glasses. These can be very dangerous

Solid
Liked how strong these were, steel springs. Disliked that they came shaped as a half circle. If you have a bench vise they are easy to bend more flat as I needed for my sofa. I was installing by myself. Two people would be easier they are very strong springs

La Z Boy recliner size 18” springs without stay clips
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this item and it arrived in less than two days. Great. They know people are mainly buying these for La Z Boy rocker repairs. Why wouldn’t they include 4 measly spring to stay wire clips? Dumb. I may send this back and just go source the parts from La Z Boy.Update: I decided to keep this kit although La Z Boy would have given me the all of the parts for free (lifetime warranty). It’s a long drive to the service center in my city. Any how the spring stay clips were not included which they should be. An upholstery shop near me was kind enough to give me four. I had all of the tools except the 12” impact driver extension. You’ll need a T25 driver bit. I’m strong so don’t even bother trying to stretch these into place manually unless you’re a beast. I couldn’t. After wasting half an hour I used a 65 lb dumbbell with a rope and had to step down on it to hook the spring in. There is a video on YouTube with a La Z Boy service person doing this in 10 minutes real time. Lol
