Pretty good
I got this as a digital ebook for kindle, but after reading through it I wish I had the physical book version! It’s probably the best overview of many Taito arcade games of old (and somewhat new) from the familar ( the Darius series ) to the more obscure ( stuff like Growl and that dinosaur fighting game ). This book is definitely worth a look!

Good book
Another great video game digest full of interesting games. I have played some of them, but others I've never heard of before. Awesome collection of articles.

Pretty decent book for any retro video game fan
I'm about halfway through the book so far, and I would definitely recommend this to any fan of retro video games. The writing is decent and there are lots of screenshots (which is always a plus). I tend to prefer books that focus on the design and art, so things like The Art of Atari by Tim Lapetino or any of the Bitmap Books series....but this Hardcore Gaming volume is a fine addition to the collection.

NO BUBBLE BOBBLE???
I have no idea why but this book is missing many of Taito's biggest hits. There's little to no mention of Bubble Bobble, Puzzle Bobble, Arkanoid, Space Invaders, Chase H.Q., or Operarion Wolf! What we get is a mixed bag with some other recognizable names and obscurities. It was still an enjoyable read, don't get me wrong. I learned about several games I've never heard of before that I want to check out.Half of these games I just want to avoid completely. Then they just throw in a bunch of weird 8-bit nudity in the end.The Shoot em up book was waaaaay better.
