Wish I'd looked more closely at this book before I bought it I wouldn't have wasted my moneyI've only been dressmaking a month (although I am a quilter and bag maker ) The dressing "tips" in the book are very basic even for a novice like me more like sewing for idiotsThe projects were a total joke and really these secrets Debbie should have kept to her selfIf you want to make a skirt from a shirt ??? ( this one was like The very worse transformation challenge on Sewing Bee) or a really dated wrap skirt , or maybe you fancy sewing bits of an old shirt to a sweater to make a dress ?Then this is the book for you Most of the clothes are just ugly and I certainly wouldn't waste time and fabric on themPoor all round too much bigger to return I'll probably donate it to the charity shopTake a tip there are plenty of free "Secrets" on You Tube that will be far more useful to youSorry Debbie but Must do betterBuy May Martin's Sewing Bible instead it's an absolute gem full of tips from a real dressmakerb

There are some very good tips in this book, so I also ordered the other books in the series on patchwork and on machine sewing. Unfortunately all three books almost duplicate each other, with only a little ‘extra’ content on patchwork and machine sewing. This is a very lazy way to publish a ‘series’. You really only need to buy ONE of these books...there are, apparently, only a few ‘secrets’ to go around...even though they are admittedly good ones!

I Love this book! Wish I had seen this one first before purchasing anything else to help me start dressmaking but this one is fantastic for beginner like me. Love the picture instructions on each page, makes it so much easier and takes away that daunting feeling of too much information, lines, symbols etc on a pattern and not knowing where to start. Would recommend this for any beginner. Fab purchase!

Bought as a gift for my daughter as she's just taking up sewing. She was over the noon and said the book had some great tips for her and would recommend it

Very useful for some things but I found the pattern ideas a bit dated. Good illustrations for technique.
