I was excited to find the book at a great price on Amazon
I saw Scott the Piano Guy on PBS. I was excited to find the book at a great price on Amazon. This is an amazingly simple way to start playing the piano for enjoyment without years of lessons, or being tied to the notes on the sheet music. First the 3 main chords in a key are learned. Then the melody of a favorite song is figured out by ear. Before you know it, you're playing the piano!! Different ways to play the chords to liven up the music is also included.

Definatly not what I expected
I was hoping for a teaching CD, but this isn't anything of the sort. All it has are samples, I assume from a book that should have been bundled with this CD, and didn't help me at all. So now, I will have to see if I can locate the teaching manual or, hopefully, a DVD. I learn better by watching. Maybe this would be an okay CD for someone who already knows how to play, but the title is deceiving or I just didn't understand what it was I was purchasing.

I'm 79 years old and have loved music for my entire life
This is probably the first unsolicited review I've ever submitted, of anything offered online. I'm prompted to do so simply because I have advice to offer that could make a tremendous difference in your appreciation of music. Setting the stage: I'm 79 years old and have loved music for my entire life. I learned to play trumpet at age 14 in my high school band, taught by an incredibly talented musician who could play every one of the instruments he taught, including piano, woodwinds, brass and percussion. He was fundamentally and spiritually a jazz musician of the old school, and it showed in his teachings. I never learned to read music except in a most rudimentary way, learning to play trumpet by ear. If I could hear it I could play it. I played in small combos for several years before other factors led me away from my music. I also taught myself to play guitar, though only well enough to please myself and a few others. I've always wanted to learn to play piano, and over the past 20 years or so I've begun taking formal lessons at least three times -- eventually giving it up for one reason or another. About 3 months ago I bought Scott's "Play Piano in a Flash" book and my life changed. Within a couple of weeks I could sit down at my new Yamaha keyboard and play just about any song I'd ever heard (and there are literally hundreds) -- so far mostly only in the key of C. If you have the desire and a musical ear you can do it too. The premise here is to forget the formal teaching methods that take you through laborious and often boring classical-style instruction practiced by just about every piano teacher, and embrace Scott's "no need to read music" approach. The CD referenced here is keyed to the book, so go back and get it. You'll be glad you did.

Two Stars
don't expect to play piano in a flash, or a week, or a month or a year...

Be aware, contains a CD only
Just be aware - this is for a CD ONLY. I made a mistake, thinking it would also come with a book! Not sure what I can do with only the CD.
