Can it be used for kids age 3

the cap might be too big for a 3 year old. I used it on my mum who is in her 70's. Not sure this will answer your question.

Do you need to remove from the packet before microwaving the cap ?

You microwave the whole thing, its 20 seconds on a 700w. I've not done this myself I've used the cap cold. They are very good.
