You're not gonna slide anywhere on this mat!
I used this for the first time this weekend and it is already changing my practice. (I was using a Prahna mat and a Gaiam no slip towel but had problems with them slipping or getting bunched up. I don't do hot yoga, but you do get sweaty even in a normal vinyasa class and my hands slip.) This mat is AWESOME. My downward facing dogs are now really low and I am not straining my shoulders and arms to keep from sliding. I don't slip at all, it has just the right amount of padding but not enough to interfere with balance poses. LOVE LOVE LOVE. The texture feels a bit rough, so it might take some getting used to and I don't think I'd drag my elbows or knees against it for the slight fear of minor abrasions, but we will see. From an aesthetic perspective I LOVE the colors of this mat (and got tons of compliments on its first outing) and I find the rubbery smell comforting. Bonus, when i leave the mat in my car (not in sun and garage parked at home and work) it infuses my car with a nice new car smell fragrance! It is so sticky, however, that anything that is on the floor or in your trunk will attach itself to mat. So it could look furry if you lose hair on it or have a pet. I don't care, though, I look forward to improving my practice with this awesome mat.

The only mat you'll need
This is my second Jade mat. The old one lasted a good 3 years with constant abuse and LOTS of sweat. I thought about replacing it with a Manduka, but why reinvent the wheel? This mat needs no breaking in. It has fantastic grip, so you don't need a towel unless you want one. The Jade has plenty of cushion for most things. Its open-cell structure does dig at my aging knees a bit, but I just put a towel under them when I'm staying there for awhile. Oh, and the red is vibrant and energizing. People talk about the faint smell of rubber, but that goes away pretty quickly, and it smells a lot better than the stale body odor that wafts to me from other people's mats. Wipe it down after every class and give it the occasional bath, and this mat will give the serious yogi everything she/he needs.

This mat is worth the price.
Wish I had bought this mat sooner. I have been practicing yoga for two and a half years on cheap mats. They are either too thin and hurt your knees in low lunge or they are slippery in down dog. The Jade Harmony is not slippery at all. It has just the right amount of cushion for your knees. I love the way it gives with your movement. There is such a difference with a good mat. I also like the two tones. I can switch sides according to my mood or if I get bored looking at one color. I will never go back chap mats.

Chili pepper color too bright.
The only thing I did not like is the chili pepper color. In person it was too bright. Too distracting for practice. I tried using the darker side color but my hands just slip on down dog. I am returning to get the only other color available right now in 71", which is blue. It is grippy even when wet(on the side where the label is. BTW, jadeyoga.com did mention to use the side up with the label). Cushion is enough for my knees. Easy to roll up. Weight is substantial but manageable. I do mostly hot yoga. Time will decide about durability.

Did not last
I have had the mat for over a year now and haven’t been using it that much. However is looks like I’ve used it every day for years and years, pieces of the mat are coming off and sticking to me leaving holes in the mat. For as expensive as it was I would have expected much much more from this mat. Especially with all the good reviews.

Jade mats are the best. On my third.
Jade mats are my favorite by far. Last one I had, I practiced with for 6 years I'm embarrassed to say. They just hold up so well. I have the Manduka harmony as well, but it's a little to cushy die my taste and I find myself constantly using my Jade. The sticky grip is no joke. So much so that I don't even have to use my yogi toes towel during my sweaty hot yoga sessions. The smell has never bothered me, and it does dissipate, although never completely goes away. Lastly, I love that I can feel the floor as I practice with my Jade mat. If you are serious about your practice or have always been curious about these mats....get one.

Jade is on top of my list!
I practice hot yoga about 3-5 times a week, so my yoga mat performance is very important. I have tried 3 different brands- Lululemon, which I like but the smell takes forever to air- Gaiam, not a fan. mines had a defect where it bunched up and it seemed to irritate my skin as well. But Jade... I can say that Jade has been wonderful! It is super sticky even when sweating, easy to clean, lighter than others when toting it around, and the colors are nice in a range from neutrals to bright. Some crazy person claimed that it smelled so bad- but really it's very mild in comparison to others I have tried, and mines aired out for a day before use and in addition I wiped it down with a eucalyptus mint and lavender essential oil combo- haven't smelled anything since. I so far have fully enjoyed my mat. And I love the fact that it is eco friendly. I completely recommend adding this essential to your routine. Enjoy yours!
