Hello! There are a 26 word family cards in this game – 4 of them are long vowel patterns so the emphasis is definitely short vowel word families.

How many different word families are included in this?

There are two decks. One is a word family deck with 26 different word family cards. The other deck = consonant cards. Each word family card is different. I will not list them all. Here are a few: am, op, ay, ush, ock, ail, and ing.

Are there supposed to be an equal amount of purple and orange cards?

No not an equal amount. There are supposed to be more beginning cards than ending ones.
