Trying to get this straight. Besides 3 filters to replace every year, there is also a reverse osmosis membrane to replace every 2-4 years?

That's correct. We recommend changing filters every 12 months and membrane needs to be replaced every 2-4 years.

Does it remove fluoride and chlorine too?

If it accidentally tipped on its side, and now won’t power on, will it start working again after a while?

Hi- I haven’t had that happen but I recommend you call the company. I have had quick responses from them (twice). I live in a very different time zone so it usually takes a day but they call me back within a day. They were always eager to answer my questions. One thing I could suggest for you - did you look behind the piece with the silver on/start button - you have to take the top lid off, then pull that piece up. That dislodges it. Then you see wires that plug into a slot... if they came apart it might affect the powering on. Good luck. I’ve had mine about 9 mo. And use it once a day, sometimes twice. Very pleased so far.

How big is the opening to get to the water dispenser? It looked like only a narrow glass can fit in there. Would a coffee carafe or pitcher fit?

The glass carafes that I use are too tall. I have a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup that I use. I fill it once and pour it into a carafe and then fill it again. It fills the whole carafe that way. I have 2 carafes and that is filling the Zip twice.
