Biblical World, The: An Illustrated Atlas

National Geographic always had the edge in mapmaking and this Bible atlas is no exception. Filled with informative maps, photographs, and essays, it is a very affordable reference that almost anyone would appreciate. Regrettably, NatGeo magazine fell into the hands of Disney and is being phased out, but this book is still available, sometimes secondhand.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. Although it was far from her most expensive gifts, it was the one that got the greatest accolades and attention.We were fortunate to visit the Holy Land a few years ago. Our experience would have been greatly enhanced had we owned this historical, cultural and pictorial masterpiece. It is a "must have" for anyone planning to visit the region, those who have been there, or especially those who would like to gain in their knowledge and understanding of the region, but will not have the opportunity to travel there.

I saw this book in the National Geographic museum book store and decided to see if it was less expensive on Amazon. Well you know the answer to that! I've gone through the book looking at the pictures and checking the chapter subjects. It's really a great book. There are maps and current day pictures as well as short written descriptions of the bible stories and historical events along with archaeological findings, etc. I think it will be a great addition to our library and will be fun to match up the bible stories.

Great pictures and historical content. Written from an objective view and tries to include all evidence and also includes significance to various religions. A really great purchase and is a great supplement to a history or apologetics course. We use it as a supplement to an apologetics course, but find the references to other religions very helpful in gaining a knowledge and understanding of not only Christianity but also other religions and how the relate and differ. Very helpful.

LOVE this!!! I’ve been looking for something like this to add to my personal library collection. It has a ton of wonderful maps, photos, and info. If you have been looking for something to use as you study The Word of God or study The Holy Land this book is for you. Got this used for a ridiculous deal. Was listed as good condition, but it’s like new condition. Nothing wrong with it and included a sweet note from the seller. 11/10.

Obviously from the title of my review, I found this to be predictably a National Geographic book. The articles carefully tread between conservative (ie. Biblical literalism) and modern scholarship. The writing is good and the text very interesting.The surprising thing for me was 1) how few maps there were, and 2) how different they are from my collection of National Geographic maps. While they were detailed between modern sites and ancient sites at the time being discussed, I found the coloring of the maps to be a little disconcerting and had a harder time reading them then the usual National Geographic map.That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is an interesting read, the photographs are as always magnificent, and the quality of the book itself is very good. It may not be the best Biblical Atlas, but it is worth the money

This Is unlike any bible atlas I have read before.It Is a great book to read, especially In these times. we today could learn a lot from the past, and this atlas Is a great place to start. It reviews the history, geography and culture of the holy land.Full of beautiful pictures,photos maps and filed with very Interesting facts on life in bible times.It Is written from a non biased viewpoint, which should appeal to all, except those who take every story In the bible on face value. Highly recommended.
