I adore this thing, in spite of my face hickey (it was my fault)
This is the second one I have bought for our household. I won’t go outside without it. We are recent transplants to Florida, and these are the meanest mosquitoes I’ve ever met. Sure, the Louisiana mosquitoes are the size of hummingbirds, but they’re not real go-getters unless you’re in the swamp. These Florida mosquitoes are sociopathic. Insanely aggressive and their bites are nasty and itchy. AND THEY ARE IN OUR BACKYARD!Two days ago I was in the yard and was attacked by a gang of these creatures. They dive-bombed me from all angles and chomped down on me more or less simultaneously. Side note: At the same time I learned that “natural” bug repellent made with essential oils might work on less ambitious mosquitoes, but it didn’t work with these.I ran inside to avoid further attack and grabbed the Bug Thing. I had a huge bite on my forehead (one of 12 bites in total), and it itched like crazy. I didn’t want to do to my face what I did to my arm a few years ago, scratching like a maniac while I slept and ending up with a scarred arm and blood-stained sheets. So I busted out the Bug Thing. In my eagerness to get rid of the itching, and because the bite was big, I kept the suction going for a long time. Too long, as it turns out.I didn’t read the instructions with our first Bug Thing, because it seemed self-explanatory, but the devil’s always in the details, isn’t it? Turns out, there’s a big fat warning about not using it on your face. Who knew? (Everyone who read the instructions, but not the girl with the big purple circle on her forehead.)I regret NOTHING. This thing works amazingly well, and so what if I have a quarter-sized love bite on my forehead? Big whoop. THE BUG THING IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ITCHING. Bruises go away; scars from fingernails, not so much.Another word of advice: I bought several of a knock-off brand, thinking, “It’s a plastic barrel with a plunger, how hard could it be to replicate?” I guess fairly hard, because the knock-offs were flimsy and I couldn’t really get a good vacuum with them. I mean, I guess I wouldn’t have been able to suck a ridiculous bruise to the surface of my face with one of the knock-offs, but I probably wouldn’t have been able to suck the itch juice out of my skin, either. I’d much rather have a bruise than a bite.Anyway, this thing is awesome, just don’t use it on your face…or do. I would100% do it again.

Tried and true for mosquito bites
It’s not perfect but darn well near. I’m one of those unfortunate people with a higher sensitivity to mosquitoes. They seem to seek me out in a crowd, and my bites are always extra gnarly—large, swollen, itchy, painful. I’ve been using this handy little tool for the past couple of summers and I can say without a doubt that it makes a significant difference if I can use it quickly enough. I’m talking within a few seconds to minutes, ideally. I keep it in my purse for outdoor excursions or regularly near my back door, in case I get attacked by mosquitoes in my backyard. I’m not a huge fan of bug spray, so I stick to mosquito repellent incense and citronella candles while in my own yard, but these obviously have their limitations if you stray too far from the safe radius. Yesterday, I was grooming my dog near some shady hedges just outside of the zone and I acquired at least 12 mosquito bites that I could locate within a couple of minutes. I was wearing short shorts, so they were ALL over my legs. The Bug Bite Thing is the reason why only 3 of those bites are slightly bothering me today. The rest don’t even itch and haven’t swollen as significantly. I’m grateful. Applying this ASAP makes a huge difference in the long term healing process, but I’ve also noticed it can help stop new mosquito bites from itching as soon as it is applied. My bad luck seems mostly to extend to mosquitoes, as I’ve never been stung by a bee or any other kind of insect before, so I can’t speak to how it affects those types of bites/stings. But if you are like me and mosquitoes are the bane of your existence, I think you should give this a try for a huge quality of life upgrade!

DO NOT USE THIS ON YOUR FACE
This thing works pretty good. However, today I got a mosquito bite on my face. I thought I would try this and I only had it on for a few seconds, used it as normal, and it left a huge purple bruise on my face! I have an interview in 2 days *cries*. Fine for other parts of your body though!

It works
Just follow the directions on a mosquito bite as soon as you notice it, and it will actually work! I react horribly to bites, and the swell up and itch like crazy, but not when I use this! I actually now have one for the house, car, and my bag just in case. It’s simple to use even with the RA in my hands. It works. It doesn’t use batteries, and the effect is instant! The end flips to a smaller hole if you get a bite in an awkward place too, because this works on suction so you need a good seal.Seriously, do yourself a favor and buy it. You’ll save yourself from hours of itching and pain!

Great Concept, Mixed Results
I really wanted this to be my go-to solution for bug bites, but it didn’t quite deliver for me. The suction mechanism is easy to use and seems well made, but despite following the directions exactly, the itching didn’t go away after using it. Maybe it works better on certain types of bites, but for mosquito bites, I didn’t notice much relief. It might reduce swelling a bit, but the itch lingered. I appreciate the non-chemical approach, and it may work better for others, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype in my case.

excellent to quickly resolve bites
excellent. Bought this years ago after seeing on sharktank because I swell/have big inflammatory response to mosquito bites. Works excellently for me. Since my body reacts very quickly so I know where all the bites are and can suction quickly after the bite. By the next day I have no swelling (vs having swelling for 5-7 days before I was able to use this). Fast forward a few years, I now have a child who I found also reacts like I do and this works well for her too (since at least 1yp whenni first tried on her). Had to buy a second one because didn't want to keep going up and down the stairs at home to get it for her when she wakes with a bite or gets one in the middle of the day. I see some people didn't find it effective; perhaps due to user error or they didn’t auction in time or just human variability in response? either way, I feel that as a one time expense, it’s absolutely worth a shot vs calamine lotions etc that are recurring expenses.
