Great slicer
I wanted to start by saying I have only used it 5 times at the time of writing this. Reading the only other review I was quite concerned before getting the product. The only other review stated it was "woefully underpowered". Not sure what type of cheese he was cutting, but I was able to cut cheese and meat with ease. I even was able to cut frozen (negative 5 degrees fahrenheit with my thermoworks) bacon. The machine didn't even slow down or make any type of straining noise. It cut very hard salami, completely frozen butt roast all with ease. It was very well packaged. I was also very happily surprised how quite the machine is. I was contemplating getting the cheaper Chefschoice 615, but when reviewing videos on Youtube the users had to almost yell over the machine while it was on. Also the 615 made a straining noise from the simplest cuts. Adding in the cost ipif the seperately sold sharpener $49, and non serrated blade $25, it came close to the price of this one and only had 120 watts versus this unit of 240 watts. Additionally the serrated blade on the chefs choice 615 had issues with it "flaring" and shredding the meat. I also thought it ridiculous that one user had to set the unit at "0" to make a thin slice using the machine very slowly to accomplish this. When my slicer is set at zero it should be flush with the guide plate, not still sble to cut. All these things makes it difficult to slice meat thinly, the main reason why i bought a slicer. If i want to make thick cuts i will use a knifeTwo small negatives the sharpening stone for front of blade sparked a bit upon first use, it didnt do it after a few minutes. Secondly the slide plate was slightly out if alignment withe the blade, so set at zero the blade was still not flush, which could be dangerous. But a slight pushing of the plate and screws it is now aligned perfectly and is staying that way. Lastly the screws to remove the blade were very difficult to get off the first time. I was successful at removing them and have torqued them to a reasonable level. I am considering hex screws as replacements. I would recommend this machine without any reservations.

Works great for slicing beef jerky
Works great for slicing beef jerky. Only complaint I have is you always have a flap of meat that doesn't get cut all the way.

I received this at 3pm, had it ready to ship back by 5pm.
Woefully underpowered. Couldn't even get a single slice of cheese out of it. Total waste of time.Unlikely it's even the 240 watts that it claims, based on the slow speed and nearly complete lack of torque.

Every home needs one of these!
This is the best and worst product ever and I would highly recommend it. Though this needs the utmost care to ensure safety this should be in every home. I was hesitant to purchase this product since there was a lack of reviews. I didn't know how easy to use this slicer would be or how thin the cuts would be. I was pleased to see that this slicer had plenty of power and could get cuts of meat paper thin. The sliding mechanism did not slide easily at first but the machine came with oil and that helped. This is the best product because the slices of meats were perfect, thin and fresh - like a deli in my home. And the worst because now I eat these sandwiches every day and I should be eating carrots. I look forward to getting a big prosciutto and slicing till my heart is content.

Wonderful! Perfect for slicing ham
Wonderful! Perfect for slicing ham, turkey salami, beets, jicama. We had visitors last week that loved the results so much that they wanted to buy 3 for Christmas gifts. Sold out unfortunately. It can slice bread, but only quite thin slices.

Great Kitchen Appliance
This is an awesome slicer. Yes, much more expensive then my last one but you get what you pay for.Yes, it is heavier than I expected but I love the fact it is SO sturdy and well built.I can slice wafer thin which I couldn't do with my cheaper slicer. Cleanup is a dream and super easy compared to my last slicer.I like the fact it has a blade sharpener which makes it much easier to maintain the quality of cut.Highly recommended for any kitchen. BTW it is 3 inches larger then my last one and higher wattage.
