We have a small walk-in closet that had water leak into it. We were able to steam clean everything but unable to get rid of the musty smell. I also did not want to store my shoes on the floor of the closet, anymore. I got this bench, hoping it would solve the smell and keep the shoes off the floor - it did both. Now, when I walk in my closet, it smells of cedar. This entire bench is made of cedar. It arrives in pieces and you put it together with the allen wench provided. I had read reviews from years ago in which people said things about the warred cracking of the screws being too large. This was not the case for me. I found it extremely easy to put together - although I did notice that the screws listed on the directions are incorrect. Just make sure to count the screws and determine which to use for what...16 screws? Use those for assembling the bottom two shelves. 8 screws? Use those for assembly the top shelf. I would not sit on this bench unless I was a toddler...which I am not. BUT the top shelf is perfect for more shoes. I was able to fir high heels on it as well as my husband's large shoes though a large man's boot will on fit on the very top. All in all, we were able to fit 10 pairs of shoes (mixed mens and women's).

This product came with all the needed parts including screws and bolts. It was kind of hard putting together cause the holes did not line up together so had to use a hammer at some times. One level has a crack in the wood. It’s still holding. I would not recommend sitting on it but it does great holding shoes.

Everything is built to a price. Reading some of these reviews I was hesitant to place an order and I was prepared to return it if it didn’t meet my expectations. I’m glad I bought it.I found the assembly to be easy and straight forward. I used an impact driver with a hex bit to put it together in about 5 minutes, a drill would have worked also. I think it would have taken a lot longer using the supplied Allen wrench. It is attractive in a slightly rustic way and fits in well with the other cedar items in my closet. It is solid cedar and very fragrant The build quality is adequate, but I wouldn’t use it as a bench, I will be using the top as a shelf for some boots and some of my shoe care items.All things considered, it is a quality shoe rack and a good value, I couldn’t find anything like it close to the price.

I don't know what some of the reviews are complaining about. This thing is solid Cedar. It was really easy to put together, and it smells great. My whole foyer smells like Cedar now. Obviously just by looking at it you can tell it's not meant for fat people to be sitting or standing on it, it's made for holding shoes so durability shouldn't be an issue. The shelves are just tall enough to fit shorter pairs of boots but not tall snow boots. I made one modification which was to put some felt on the bottoms of the feet so it doesn't scratch my floor.

I was looking for a shoe rack/bench in our mudroom and knew I didn't want anything that smelled of chemicals. This is a nice all-cedar rack but not so much a bench. The price was great for what I needed and the material I wanted. However, it didn't come with instructions so I can't say what the weight limit for the bench is. And once my (very handy) husband put it together, he sat on it and one of the slats cracked part-way on the underside. It doesn't show and we didn't send it back. My husband weighs 145lbs so it really should have held him, if it claims to be a bench. So we don't sit on it (it's under a coat rack anyway) and just use it for shoes. The wood slats are pretty thin, and a little rough on the edges. So for quality I'd give it 3 stars but because it smelled nicely of cedar and is actual wood, and the good price, I give it 4.

I bought and received the product, and I have to say that its material (100% cedar) and portability are the only two factors that prevented me from packing it back up and returning it for a refund; otherwise, the flaw in its design, with the 2 legs facing the front and 2 legs facing the rear (instead of having the legs turned 90 degrees each, with 2 legs on the right side and 2 legs on the left (which would, then, have allowed for the utilization of the existing shelf space for addition of 1 more pair of shoes to each shelf)), and the fact that the product came without any assembly bolts/screws (which I had to purchase separately, and of which 24 are required) or even basic instructions for the kind and size of the bolts/screws recommended for the assembly are a huge drawback which, had I known it beforehand, might have prevented me from purchasing this product altogether.

Saw couple of reviews, well, the 1/2" thick top board is a little thin. So that I put a bar to support the top boards. Of course you need drill holes on side boards so that you can fasten the bar. I think they can modify the design and add a central reinforcement bar/board under the top boards.Super fast delivery. The colour is beautiful just almost the same as the photo and the smell is excellent. And the most important, the 68 CAD price is really a good deal with HST included.Those boards are not applied finish, well, for red cedar, you should not. I am got to sand the edges a little bit and any potential splinters.It came with a assembly instruction which is quite simple but the assembly is also simple. Just need the common sense that you can not tighten a single screw while others are not assembled. You need to put all hardware on and tight them symmetrically.Anyway, It is a good deal for such low price and it is not that bad at all.

Not as sturdy as I was expecting. Don't expect a heavy person to sit on this. Great for children though. And the wood isn't sealed.
