The Folk of the Air Complete Paperback Gift Set

Holly Black paints a vivid exciting story that kept me turning the page. I couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait to read each book. I actually originally bought these books on digital and stayed all night when each book was released. I loved them so much I bought the print set! I love that it has a little bit of everything in it fantasy, adventure, romance, small amounts of humor, and mystery. All tied up in a beautiful story. The main character is well written and I love the strength and that she defends herself but, still has moments of vulnerability. I loved each book and how she ties everything together in the end. I love that there was so much more to the main male lead, than I thought. I like that you see him develop in each book. I also enjoyed the surprises through the book, multiple little twists I didn’t expect. I am so excited to read her next series that is about the main characters younger brother. I just started the first few chapters and I’m not disappointed.The quality of the set is excellent. They are a very well made set. Great binding. I use digital sometimes, but will never be able to part with that new book smell and feel.

Reading the entire trilogy at once made it more obvious how the plot was portioned out, and Holly Black did a great job of it. The world was well developed, and even though the relationships did not work at all at first glance, their messiness somehow added to their authenticity.Holly somehow made you understand, accept, and even love characters who were on the dark side of morally gray. But really, who in our lives is fully pure and good? And admit it, they would be boring if they were.

ok no spoilers but this series was SOOOOO GOOD!!! beautifully written and i couldn't put it down i blew thru all 3 books in a day. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT as somebody who isn't really into fantasy this was a great first experience. I'm gonna have all my fantasy lover friends read this too

I read this series quickly, which means it's easy language to get through and the opening scene in the first book hooked me. So that was well done. But I think the love story fell a little flat and the political intrigue that drove the characters could have been better fleshed out. This is kinda like watching an ok movie. It's got all the elements of an entertaining story, but some things could have been improved before publishing.

I read all of these in under a week, I love them so much. The main character is written so well in my opinion, and while she does have her fair share of what I like to call "dumb main character moments" she's still likeable and just a really good example of a strong female character. She has so much personality and feeling and isn't just a self-insert character and I love it so much. Plus the majority of the fae in it are based on real European folk tales which is so cool to me, and the fact that it's set in modern day is so unique in my experience with fantasy reading. I honestly thought that it being set in the present would be dumb but it's written so well and honestly just adds so much to the story. I definitely recommend these books and am currently forcing my mom to read them <3

Still one of my favorite series I’ve read. Well written and a great plot <3
