Q: Does the packaging have an expiration date? Typically how long is this marshmallow root c/s good for? Worried that 1 lb will expire quickly.

No expiration date on the package, that’s what I concern too. But base on my past experiences, I would say put them in airtight glass container in a fridge would keep them fresh for at least couple of years.

Q: Hairs, slugs, and cigarette butts? Is quality control the reason this is so much cheaper than everyone else?

I have been buying this for a couple years, recently started buying it from Amazon, so far I have always gotten a clean product. My complaint is that when the mylar bags get ripped I don't know if it happened before or during shipping so we have been concerned that if it happened before the product could be contaminated, as we drink this in tea, and so do our cats.
