Yes, You Will Get The Burn & Heart Rate Up!
This really gets your arms and shoulders burning and quickly! It "looks" easy and wow is it effective.I cannot wait to see where I will be in a few months with practice! I know overtime the endurance will increase! I can do about 30-45 seconds before my arms are screaming, I pause, then repeat doing 3-5 reps. This is a great quick workout that can be used throughout the day or even between other workouts. This will your heart rate up!Now let's talk about the device. Overall this is heavy, the weight is deceiving indeed, however holding this up and moving through reps is going to help tone up the arms and shoulders. 12 lbs is perfect in my opinion! It looks to be made well, does not appear cheap. It has very smooth movement, no grinding. I love the ability to tune the level of resistance! The grip tape is also a nice bonus. I personally use this with my weight gloves. I wouldn't recommend doing this bare handed, but to each there own!Overall, do not hesitate! Get it! You'll enjoy the challenge and workout!!!

Different in a good way
I was looking for a different type of forearm and shoulder workout. A friend turned me on to the concept of this machine. It definitely gives a good burn. I didn't think it would at first, but once you get into it you really feel the burn.I like the fact I can alter the resistance based on my preference for workout that day. I have read other reviews which say it would have been nice to get a manual of different workouts. I agree with that. You definitely have to play around with it. I have found many different motions, all of which I feel hit some good muscle groups.Definitely feels like a sturdy piece of equipment. It is a little heavy if you are traveling. It does pack away easily though.

working well for post shoulder surgery PT.
This thing is a great shoulder and back workout. depending on what height you raise your arms it feels like a speed bag or ropes.i wish it came with a better grip tape for the handlebars.

It works well for what it does, rating has more to do with the cost
So overall, this unit is a specific exercise that would be equivalent of doing rotating punches for a small punching bag above the head if you've ever seen clips or movies doing that. If you're really strong and you're looking for a specific tool to be able to work specifically on upper body strength, specifically for your forearms, back, shoulder, then this is the tool that can get the job done.I bought this more specifically because I needed a way to be able to workout my back and shoulder muscles as I've been experiencing pain as a side effect of losing weight while neglecting my upper body as I've mainly been doing rowing up to this point with very little resistance training. Weights still intimidate me a bit to build a routine off of it, along with resistance bands I get annoyed with setting up even though it's simple to do so, and I'm not the best at free body exercises to tackle the specific area. I first thought I had actually a serious issue as I had this pain for months on end that was getting worse so I went to the doctor about it and did an xray on my back. Didn't find anything. When it started to get worse, I noticed that it only felt better when I was doing my exercises, so I started to look more into getting some stretching material / massage guns for my back. They helped immensely, but the pain would still come back afterword. After being recommended physical therapy for a problem I knew for a fact I could solve with simply adding some resistance training, I opted for this instead. So I bought this along with an arm extender, since it's really simple and targeted the specific area that I've had pain with. Since the tool is really light, I can use it along with doing cardio from walking or add it into a routine seemlessly which is what I've been doing for the past few weeks along with the other tool I use and a simple kettlebell routine.Pain goes completely away, but comes back when I neglect to do the exercise for a while, so for my specific use case it worked out really well. However retrospectively, theres other products that are half the price of this one that would've served the same purpose, and I don't think with the limited use case this product has that it should be sold for $120 dollars when I can buy an adjustable kettlebell for $150.
