Easy to set up and peace of mind
I decided to buy this alarm kit, because of its easy integration with my other Ring devices, and i like the easy to navigate app for setting up the devices and controlling the modes and more. The 7 piece kit that I bought on a Black Friday deal was a great price at the time with £160 off the retail price. The kit came with components like a base station, motion detectors, range extender, keypad, contact sensors, and an indoor camera, providing reliable protection for my home. The addition of the indoor camera enhances the system's capabilities, allowing me to monitor my property in real time. The installation and setup was very easy. The first thing is to plug in the keypad, As it is rechargeable and takes a couple of hours to charge up depending on how low the battery is. The base station is the first thing to set up, Which can be set up using either Ethernet or Wi-Fi connections. This allows you to choose the method that best suits your home network setup. Once you have charged the keypad, this is the next thing to set up which can be used wirelessly or hardwired with the provided Power cable. Then next was my contact sensor, Which for me was the front Street door, which when setting up this contact sensor I chose main door, the reason why I say this is that if this option has been chosen, then the ring automatically gives a entrance and exit delay for this contact sensor, so giving you enough time to enter or exit before the alarm will go off. I then set up my second contact sensor, which was my back door, which if the alarm is armed and the contact sensor is triggered the alarm will go off. The last devices to set up was the motion sensors. The alarm can be set and disarmed from the Ring app, by your echo devices if you have connected it to the Ring app and obviously the keypad. The keypad battery lasts about 9 months for me, but I’m guessing this may very on individual usage. It does also have some options like power saving mode. I like how the keypad gives you an audible countdown and lets you know which alarm mode you have chosen. The base station does have a built-in battery back up, so if it is accidentally unplugged, the battery lasts up to 22 hours according to the Internet. I do personally have a Ring subscription, that I pay for once a year, so that I can go back on my camera and ring floodlight camera footage etc. Overall, the Ring Alarm 7 Piece Kit (2nd Generation) with Indoor Cam is a great choice for those seeking a DIY home security system that provides peace of mind in my opinion.

Excellent
Replacing an older system so chose to go with a Ring set up as we already had the Ring doorbell so it made sense.Installed easily, looks clean and tidy and we have been adding additional devices to it as we go along.Fully customisable too.Still early days to comment on battery life but so far so good and being able to access CCTV from anywhere is highly reassuring. It was easy to set up and even easier to add other devices and not a single issue so far with connectivity.Highly recommended security system.

Impressive bit of kit
Bought for our tanning salon as our old alarm was very outdated. Delivery did come in separately over a few weeks, but the price was worth the wait. So easy to install.and works very well. All the sensors and motion detectors just stick on. The app is awesome. You can even have more than 1 property on the ring app. One of the good things is you don’t have to sign up to the ring paid monitoring system. Works perfectly well without it. App messages me if the alarm goes off or if something is tampered with.

Cheap for Ring system integration, otherwise look elsewhere
While I do like the Ring eco-system for its ease of use for non IT folk, having installed this for someone I don't really rate it. If you have Ring doorbell/cameras, then OK, might as well get this as an alarm - otherwise don't bother...The base-station does have battery backup and mobile network backup (O2) if you pay for a sub(scription). Have not tried a different SIM. But WiFi connection seems poor, plus Ethernet port is at the top of device. WiFi is dual-band but not sure why you'd want to use lower-range 5GHz band? Antenna(s) seem weak with it always complaining it is "off-line" when other devices, cameras, etc. are just fine.Z-Wave (used here) is not as friendly as Zigbee, but seems to be preferred for security devices, e.g. locks or alarms. But you won't be using any other vendor's units (PIR, contact, etc.) with this alarm - Ring only. With Thread/Matter coming that is a disappointment...The keypad is nice, it has light on motion but pretty simple otherwise. The sensors (PIR, contact) are huge, heavy and prone to breakdown. One has been stuck in "open" and had to be replaced. At least they use standard batteries: AA (PIR) and CR3032 (contact). Adhesive seems OK - so far - but PIR is very heavy - consider using screws. On a deal with extra 2 sensors (thus 2 PIR, 2 contact) + 1 Ring camera - it is quite cheap for an alarm. I elected to use the "self monitoring", though if you pay the "Plus" sub for multiple cameras/doorbell(s) then you might as well use the "assisted monitoring".I would only buy this alarm if you already have Ring doorbell/camera(s) and likely already paying for one of the sub. Otherwise, look elsewhere for better alarm, better sensors, etc.
