Yamaha Trumpet SILENT Brass Mute Only (PM7X), Black

It really makes playing the trumpet quiet. I can actually practice while people in my home are sleeping

The device is light years ahead of earlier versions.

This is so quiet! My son could be playing in the same room as me and I would barely be able to hear it.

The product was everything I desired. I can play trumpet as long as I desire because it does not interfere with others in the household.

This product works great with the additional part that allows you to plug on and listen via headphones.

Why is this sold separately when it only works with the Yamaha amp module? I'd assumed this was piezo based, but the pickup is a small condenser mic that requires an unusual type of "plug in power" over 1/8 inch TRS. The phantom to plug in converters will not help you. If there's an off the shelf hack for this, I was not able to find it. And without amplification, this is a very expensive mute!So now I have to return this for the package that includes the amplifier. Beware!

I purchased the first modle type and it worked great. The sound was clear and crisp. I substituted their ear budd for some “Beats” head speakers. However, through a series of unintended drops of the Silent Brass mute onto the floor, hard, this cause the pickup mic to stop working. I purchased this new modle and I hear a great deal of distorted sound when I’m practicing. I have to turn the volume down very low. It as though they used a cheaper pickup mic to save cost and increase profit or something. This is not good for trained musical perfectionist as we all are when we practice and evaluate ourselves to improve. I gave a 2star because it works but distorted sound is not desired.

Great that it came separate from the system so the price was reasonable. Works exactly as designed and great for practicing in an apartment.
