Adirondack Park [Map Pack Bundle] (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map)

Great resource to bring hiking, camping, or traveling through the ADKs
First of all, the retail price of each map is $11.95. So the bundle is definitely worth the price if you wanted more than one map of the region (I see it as Buy 3, Get 1 Free).Secondly, the maps are very easy to read, easy to use, and contain a lot of pertinent information such as noting trail heads, trails, picnic areas, camping areas, information centers, etc, in addition to the basics of roadways and towns. I don't know about you, but sometimes I research mountains online and say, yes - let's climb that one; only to find out that no one states where the heck the trail head is on ANY of the websites. Not a problem anymore since these maps have it marked! I would consider the map material to be moisture/wet-proof but not rip proof. This is awesome if you want to take the map on the trail with you b/c you don't have to worry about blurring ink or ruining the paper if it gets wet.All National Geographic maps that I have seen are excellent resources for hikers. NG also offers online subscriptions to download maps pertinent only to your particular areas of interest, which you can zoom in and print it off your own printer. While I think that is great, I don't subscribe to it for a couple reasons: #1 - I don't know if I would use it enough to justify the cost and #2 - that takes a lot of planning. Sometimes, I change or modify my plans (depending on crowds, weather, etc). For this reason, the paper maps are excellent. While you can't zoom in (better for seeing elevation changes), you still get all of the information you need to have a great hike and not get lost.

Versatile , must have, equipment
These wear very well, withstanding repeated folding and rough weather. Very nicely detailed with upgrades to existing trails. Along with a compass these will outlast any battery powered gps devices.

Great map set!
I purchased two of these, one as a gift and one for myself. They're great maps of and for using in the Adirondack Park. I received all six maps in both packages. They are easy to use, read, fold and they feel like they're waterproof. I purchased a map holder (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005X02YYW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and grease pencil to protect and mark trails on the maps. Two thumbs up!

These maps are organized and easy to understand
These maps are organized and easy to understand. My only problem with them is the lack of detail. Since they do cover the entire Adirondack park in only a few maps, this is a small scale map. If one was to know exactly where they were going, purchasing a larger scaled map of the area could be more helpful than only bringing these maps.

Great but....
They're really nicely made, strong, water resistant, but, totally unusable on the trail. A little too big and the detail is a little too small. I'd use these by photo copying smaller sections and zooming in.

I love these maps
I love these maps. They show the locations of the lean-tos, which is what I wanted the most in the map. However the lean-to that I usually stay in was not on the map so I am wonder how accurate they are, but I can use the state DEC website to double check for lean-to location before I go camping and hiking. I used to have a paper map of one area that was quite old and had ripped in 4 pieces so having the plastic coated maps should help them last a long time.

making the maps useless for certain trails
durable and concise hiking maps. The only beef I have with them is that boxes of info (legends, symbol keys, park info, etc). are positioned on the page so that big chunks of the map are obliterated by them, making the maps useless for certain trails.

Great maps, must have for adirondack adventure.
Must have for map lovers, adirondack lovers, kayakers, hikers, leaf peakers, just about anything. Very highly detailed, high quality paper (it might not even be paper but something more durable). I would buy a them again in a seco d if anything happened. I was able to find less know. Trails and even map out a trail that few know about. I'm glad I didn't just buy the maps in the areas where we stayed, they encouraged exploring further than planned.
