Francois Doucet - French Fruit Paste (Pate de Fruit) 32 bars 2.1lbs

The flavors (blueberry, raspberry, apricot, and pear) of these bars are wonderfully intense, set off by an amount of sugar that is perceptible without being cloying. The texture would probably melt in one's mouth if one could wait long enough to let it. The worst thing about these pate de fruit bars is that they can apparently, due to being lightly scored, be divided into three parts. This leads to the illusion that one will be able to eat only one part and save the rest for later. This is not actually possible. It is barely possible not to eat all the bars at one time because they are individually wrapped, and the physical barrier allows time to think about the amount of sugar involved. They are expensive, but worth it. I have ordered other pate de fruit jellies through Amazon (Finlandia, Caffarel), but these are the best, I think.

First, I have to agree with others' opinion that the pear is exceptional. I'm a blueberry guy and still find the pear to be the star here. The flavors are all great. I was looking for a transportable pate de fruit that I can take on the boat, camping or riding. I love these French candies, but they usually come unwrapped in a box and would make a mess on the move. If I'm being fully honest, I was inspired by Fluffy to make a Snactical vest and wanted something that would fit in the pockets or pouches well. These do the job perfectly.

These are nicely wrapped individual fruit pate bars. The pear and the apricot are pretty good. The blueberry has no discernible flavor except for sugar. The raspberry has seeds but has a decent flavor. We purchased the apricot pates at a local store and liked them so well that we thought this package looked like a good idea. However, if you only enjoy two of the types of bars, then perhaps not. They are very sweet and the fruit flavor is mild. So probably manufactured for the American market because I really thought that previous ones that I had tasted years ago in France were both fruitier and more flavorful.

I was disappointed when I tasted the fruit candy. It was very chemical tasting and did not taste like any fruit at all. I would not purchase this product again and was upset that the cost was so high for such an inferior product.

These are the best pate de fruits I have been able to find at a reasonable price. The flavors are excellent and not too sweet. The consistency is soft and jelly-like. I appreciate both the individual wrapping that keeps them fresh and the assorted flavors. The pear flavor is heavenly.

Wonderful and delicous, don ot have to go to France to be able to get it, what a great thing.

Got these to give as a Valentine's Day gift. They were really good; also it's nice they are individually wrapped
