It doesn’t mar the finish on your guns and it’s like having an extra pair of hands!
I do a little bit of minor gun smithing work on my pistols. I purchased this bench block to work on my many Colt 1911’s and my Glocks. I like having this surface to hammer on as it helps to protect the finish of the weapon as I remove sights, pins and reinsert them.I like having the various sized holes for work as well as the channels for holding the gun slides. I like how the bench block holds the slide for example as I hold the punch and the hammer, it’s like having an extra hand. I like how the block is solid and it provides a firm support for my work but it doesn’t mar the finish on the guns or scratch them.I have actually started setting up a case for my gun smithing tools to have them all in one place. And this tool is one of my most used items. It works well and I would buy it again. This thing is solid and bigger in diameter than it looks like in the photo. I am even considering modifying the block to work better with some of my older Glock pistols.I was able to use one of the existing large holes in the block and using a punch and hammer I was able to remove the staked front sights of two of my older Glocks to replace them. The nice thing about this bench block is that it lets you hammer away on your pistol without damaging it or your work surface. It provides good support for your weapon. The pre-drilled holes in the block are very useful to work on your guns and rifles. So far I have taken 4 glock pistols and replaced the sights and worked on a Colt AR15 using this bench block.I have just worked on a 5th Glock which was a Glock 17 and the bench block came in handy again. This is one of those must have tools that you’ll need if you are serious about working on your own guns.I saw a comment that this block is only good for use with 1911’s. I disagree, I have used it on multiple guns and I have found it very useful for general gunsmith work. This tool is very helpful.

Truly Universal
This bench block has been super handy. I have so many different models and brands of handguns that it would be cost prohibitive to buy brand and model specific tools. I have found this tool to assist in many pin and spring removal and repair jobs. I have even used the block to punch pins out of watch bands for resizing. There are multiple style grooves from squared to round with punch holes in various locations to allow you to position your slide in the most convenient place. The only thing I wish I could change would be to make it have some kind of rubber feet or non-slip material. I just have problems with it sliding as I punch pins out or while I am using it to hold a part while putting pressure on to remove or replace a spring. It sure is better than holding it in your hand though!

Excellent Supportive Tool
I'm involved in some detailed disassembly and reassembly of my FN High Power in conjunction with some testing and evaluations for one of my sponsors. The Wheeler armorers block is exceptionally good, and it's a fixed item on my workbench. While some of its features are purpose-molded for a 1911, there's sufficient carryover for use with many firearms. It's working superbly with my High Power for both slide and receiver work.Best, Jon

Very Useful.
I was skeptical about paying $20 for this thing. Is it really going to pay for itself? Turns out, this bench block is pretty great. Grips both the working surface, and the item you are working on. Tough enough that it won't cut from metal edges pounding into it while installing roll pins. I see a lot of guys using wooden blocks. People may think that this is more of a luxury than a necessity, and that may be true, but there is something to be said about having the right tools for the job. A piece of wood is sometimes very cumbersome. This bench block is useful, I forget that I'm using it. I wish that I had gotten one sooner. It would have made my life so much easier, and cuts down on install/removal time as well.

Used/like new
I saw that availability of a less expensive Wheeler bench block in the used/like new listing and thought, why not save a bit. It arrived and was in new packaging with “instructions”.. opened the clam shell and sure enough, someone had used it.. it had scratches on both sides, but I’m sure after the first several times I use it it will not matter in the least! It’s a bench block for crying out loud. Great deal. It will work fine for several applications, but it is designed for the 1911…
