Honeywell, Black HFD-120-Q QuietClean Oscillating Air Purifierwith Permanent Washable Filters, Medium Room(170 sq. ft), 29" x 11" x 10"

I don't often write reviews, but I had to for this product. I purchased this air purifier 9 years ago in 2008 to help with an apartment that just seemed to create dust out of thin air. It helped immensely. Since then it has survived a multitude of bumpy moves with me, including a road trip across the country, and then some. I even had it in storage for a good year and a half, and when I decided to clean it and plug it back in, it's still works like the first day I bought it.It definitely does what its supposed to do. Years ago I had a curious and skeptical roommate hold a burger behind the fan while he sniffed the "purified" air that came out the front. Sure enough, he could barely smell the burger.I cannot recommend this product enough. I can't think of anything I've ever purchased that's lasted me this long and worked so well. The inner filters are easy to clean, but the foam is a bit of a pain. I just saw that they have cheap foam replacements for $8. Done! The front of the filter also needs cleaning once in a while (very seldom), and that gets a little heinous - I recommend q-tips with the two different sized ends.The purifier is also super, super quiet. Seriously, after 9 years, on its highest setting it's still quieter than most white noise machines. If I could get some kind of commission, I would market this product all over the place. What brought me here today is just that I'm looking to purchase another one to keep in a bedroom.

After using the product for long enough that I thought I was happy with it, and threw the packaging away, I developed a massive headache that nothing would touch for hours- ibuprofen, tylenol, ibuprofen on top of tylenol, etc, I left my house to run some errands, and miraculously, the headache went away. Remembering some reviews that I had read on this site about the purifier causing headaches, I unplugged it when I got home, and haven't had a headache since. Mentioning it to my husband, he said that ionizers can produce ozone, and some people are sensitive to it. I guess that's me. I wish there were some kind of warning on the site about it, because I wouldn't have bought the purifier if I had known that was a possibility. $150 down the tube. I'm not happy at all.

I bought this air purifier after months of researching for a way to eliminate second hand smoke odor. My husband & I bought our first place, a condo unit, without considering our neighbors who smoke on either sides. I cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke nor the stale smell that seeps through the walls and vents.I was worried we made a bad choice buying this property but I was determined to find a solution. I decided to try this purifier since some reviews mentioned it's effectiveness removing cigarette smell, plus the filter is washable so it is economical. I have to say within 24hrs of having it on we noticed a great improvement in the smell. We have to leave it on 24/7. We usually have it on medium & it doesn't impact the electric bill as much. We have one purifier for our 2 story apartment & we have it by the stairs. In addition to it, I bought carbon filter sheets at the hardware store for some of the vents were I noticed cigarette smell seeping in. The combination is life changing!(The pictures attached show how much dirt it collected in 2 months & the water after cleaning the filters)

I've have it in my bedroom (12x15) with 2 cats and and a litter box for 22 months now....anyone that's been in my room is surprised as heck if they notice the litter box because this air purifier works THAT well. Thank you, honeywell!

I bought this unit on February 12, 2012, and five years later it is still going strong. I want to say that the unit has been turned on for four of the five years. I brought this with me to a foreign country, used it there, and brought it back with me to the states. It has literally been through hell and back. I have not replaced the filters, I just rinse them out in the sink every couple of months. It's surprising the amount of dust and dirt particles that it collects. It stays on and I forget that it is even there. If you're on the fence about purchasing this item, hesitate no longer. You won't regret it.

I love this air purifier! I use this almost everyday since I have bad allergies. I also like that it can function as a rotating fan which comes in handy during the summer months. I had an older model that does not rotate and gave it away after i bought this. This comes with permanent filters which was not hard to clean. It did had some discoloration after cleaning but the manual states that this does not affect the performance which i agree. I did bought the replacement pre-filters because they were gross to clean. I like that i can purchase the pre-filters anywhere (walmart, target etc) but it is pricey since i replace it often. I do highly recommend this product.

Overall these units work fairly well. Not at quiet as I would like but tolerable. Unable to use in the bedroom at night because of the noise.The air is noticeably cleaner smelling. Collects the air dust especially during the heating season. Cleaning is a bit of a tedious chore but better than having to purchase endless supply of filters. If you have a bigger home with larger rooms as I do then these should work well for you. I have 4 of them running 24/7 low at night medium during the day. Helps to get rid of cooking smells in the kitchen.
