The backing looks great on the reel. Blue looks better than a standard white Dacron.

If not for anything else, just buy it for the color. I have no reason to doubt it will stand up to the specs as this is a well renown 3M brand. that said, pair this up with any green line (charteuse, lime green, etc) and you will get a very nice bright contrast. It makes my reel setup look superb! (much better than the original white or even the yellow color I have on another spool)3-31-12 Update: I loaded this to my spool and --for my taste-- it is a little too thick of a backing. I would go with a 20pound if I found this one in orange. I was unable to make a needle knot to my line or even thread comfortably to a needle (which I've been able to to on other 30-pound backing lines). I have a Sage 4550 and I could not load all the backing on it (probably just about 70-80 ft) or I would have been left with no room for the line.All i nall, it is still a very good backing.

Highly recommend to fly fishers though you can use any fluorocarbon line.

Ordered product in 25lb rating for 3w fly reel. Product is perfect and adds a nice accent to reel as well. If a fish takes me down to the backing then it deserves to have it .

As you can see in the picture there are three different colors for this description, yellow, orange and white, I ended up receiving the an orange fly fishing backing line, why I tough it was multicolor? Mmmm... anyway the one star is just to caught your attention to this matter be aware of what you choose.

In order to get away from the hard to tie knots needed when using Spectra line I used the blacking as an insulator or sleeve for the Spectra. I inserted the Spectra through the tubular backing with a needle fed in backwards then tied a Granny knot with a knot in the tag end. Just as strong as the uni knot.

Good delivery time and it looks good I’m my Hardy St.George reel.
