I was surprised and impressed at how well it works. This is the first time using a wood grinder. My concern when ordering this grinding disk was how highly they recommended the $65 Kutsall tungsten carbide disk. This disk did a great job on my project and dosen't show any wear yet. I used it to grind 20-6x6 Cedar fence rail edges for a more rustic appearance. It removed material quickly and was easy to control. Works good on soft wood with knots, have not tried with hardwood yet. It worked with my 18V grinder but a lot better with my corded grinder that has a lot more power. You can buy 5 of these for the cost of Kutsall.

First use safety gear and be mindful of the other reviews with injuries, a definite real possibility. This does seem to work well and remove a good amount of wood. I am using a ryobi grinder 18 volt battery. I would say this wheel needs more powerful grinder it is not the easiest to get on because the teeth are near the hole, so use gloves. It did hold up to my use, but once again I am using a lighter weight grinder. One star off, I wish they had listed a recommended grinder power.

I have used them to carve in both soft and hard wood. They work great for either. Control is good when used with a (Bosch) angle grinder at full speed. Very little kickback. Material removal is quick, but with a little bit of practice it was easy to find the right pressure and angle to have good control over what is taken off and what stays. I have only used them three times thus far, but do not perceive any decrease in removal speed, i.e., it appears they are made from good steel with good edge holding.

I got this wood carving disc for my angle grinder, and it straight-up eats through material. Super sharp and removes wood fast, so it saves a ton of time. It’s got a slight concave shape that’s perfect for shaping and cutting angles with one smooth pass. You definitely gotta be careful though—this thing is a beasth. If you're not paying attention, it’ll bite back. But as long as you use it with respect, it’s hands down the most efficient tool I’ve used for carving. I’ve already bought a few more—worth every penny.

This thing absolutely eats through wood like nobody’s business but it will only last for 2 or 3 heavy uses which is ok for the price. The terrible part of this grinding dish is it tightens down to the grinder during use that it’s a pain in the a** to get off. First time I used it it took an hour of cussing and throwing things to get it off.

Excellent tool for surfacing a log. The log was pine. I'll bet it will work well on hardwoods also.
