Used with DTV HR24 receiver. Plugs right in but requires you to reprogram all your channels and preferences like a brand new receiver install. Was surprised that the hard drive in the enclosure was a standard Western Digital and not an AV drive specifically made for 24/7 video recording. No trouble so far after a week. Runs smooth, quiet, and cool. It appears you can easily and quickly swap out the internal drive with a different one without using any tools. Enclosure LED light is bright enough to light the room. Maybe a little overpriced given that the hard drive is not a true AV drive.

This item marks the third of these I have purchased. I'm a lifer - I'm a customer for the long haul. Having all this extra storage space allows me to keep every 'win' of my two favorite teams (one NBA team and one Pac-12 football team). Plus, I'm able to keep all programs I know I'd like to see again. Thus far, the three of these I've purchased have all been for the same satellite DVR. However, in the next month I'll be buying 2 more, but those will be for a cable DVR and a different satellite DVR.My only regret is that a 6 TB version is not available for my original satellite DVR.Oh! By the way, the REAL selling point of these extenders for me is that this is the only method by which I can permanently keep my favorite programming in HDTV.

Did not work with HR-22 100

The first one that I purchased was dead on arrival. I returned it (the return process was super-easy) and ordered another. It works like a charm. My HR24's internal hard drive had failed but the DVR otherwise was fine, so I used this external hard drive to substitute for the internal one. The much larger capacity is an added bonus.

My Directv HD was having issues - multiple errors and unable to record anymore. Purchased an external drive about 2 years ago, but that one also started to fail . Installed this model last week. Very easy to install and the instructions were simple to follow. So far it is working well and very quiet compared to last external drive (that one the fan was ridiculously loud and had bright light on the front). This model is very quiet with just one small light on the front. Would recommend. Product was shipped well packaged and on time.

Had to replace our old DirecTV receiver so we decided to get a hard drive to go with the new one. Received the 2TB DVRdaddy in a couple of days, it arrived well packaged and had easy to follow instructions. Works great, the unit is basically silent and now we have room for weeks of programming. No problems at all, great product. I highly recommend it.

This HD Expander solved my storage problems! Now I have not only plenty of storage capacity but also retain most of the formerly recorded date since much of it is stored on a 1TB external drive on my bedroom DVR.Great product and seller. I'll buy again when it's time to upgrade my DVRs for larger capacity ones.
