The Strength of His Hand by Lynn Austin is the third book in the Gods and Kings series—and by far my favorite so far! The depth of emotion, spiritual insight, and character growth in this installment is absolutely incredible.In this book, we see King Hezekiah tested in new and deeply personal ways. His faith is challenged not only by external enemies but by internal struggles that make him question God’s promises and his own leadership. Lynn Austin does an amazing job showing how faith must be strengthened through trials, and how even great leaders are vulnerable and human.What made this book stand out to me was its raw honesty. It’s about trusting God when everything seems to be falling apart, and it hits hard—in the best way. The writing is rich, the pacing keeps you engaged, and the emotional moments feel authentic and impactful.This story was not only compelling—it was convicting. I found myself reflecting on my own relationship with God and how I respond when I feel overwhelmed or uncertain. This is more than just a well-written biblical novel; it’s a faith journey.If you’re reading this series, don’t stop before this one—it’s the heart of the story so far. Highly, highly recommended.

Very enjoyable and helps bring a part of scripture alive in the day-to-day lives of the characters of the story. While the Assyrians aren’t at our city gates, we all face giants and fears that challenge us to live our faith and trust in our Lord. While some moments are crystal clear, there are times we waiver and need the strength of a spiritual guide, a confidant or friend. This novel helps to understand the historical account of actual events while challenging the reader to deeper their faith through the action or inaction of the characters in the story.

This series has helped me gain insight into the order of some events in the Bible. This third book in the series has proven to be another page-turner, even more so than the first two! And that's saying a lot since they were both hard to put down every time I read them.Lynn Austin has also found a wonderful way to provoke much thought about God's love and blessings!

This is the 3rd book in the Chronicles of the Kings series by Lynn Austin. If you like Old Testament reading you will enjoy this series. The book arrived shortly after I ordered and was in perfect condition. Happily give it 5 Stars!

I read this whole series, trying to get a better feel for the timeline and interaction of which kings with which prophets of the Old Testament. There are a lot of invented conversations and actions, but it follows what we do know from Scripture to be true. As long as you don't have a problem separating the two, these books are a good way to get a feel for what life was like during that time and get a better handle on biblical history. If more books are added to the series, I will definitely keep reading them.

The true story of King Hezekiah is an amazing example of how humans forget to trust & obey our God. He is our Creator & will always be King of the Universe. Hezekiah loved God, but he was human. Triumph & pride interfered with his faith. Thank goodness he had a strong faith foundation through his grandfather, Zechariah, good leadership through the Prophet Isaiah. God prevailed against the mighty Assyrian army because Hezekiah trusted his God. Excellent series of books, Chronicles of the Kings by Lynn Austin.

This whole series has been exceptional. It adheres to scripture, weaving the Old Testament and David's Psalms with an historical novel above all others I have read. Magnificent!

Couldn’t put this book down! I felt like I was watching God’s loving hand upon His people.Testing, leading, protecting,and keeping those He has chosen as His own. I am encouraged to memorize His Word so I will share His Word regardless of what I see or don’t understand and just wait and trust my Powerful, Loving God.
