Product works as advertised
Nice thick consistency. Not fragrant, in fact has a “raw” smell…but can be melted down with cocoa butter for fragrance. This is great for moisturizing the roughest skin (hands, feet)

Product is slightly different color but seems to have a lower melting point
This is my third purchase of Shea moisture raw shea butter. This product that I received today is a little different than the first two in that it isn't white-ish, it is a light yellowish green. I searched online and found out that it's perfectly normal for raw shea butter to have that greenish tinge. It just depends on where the shea butter is from and how it was handled after it was gathered. I think that the scent is just a bit stronger then before, but it is the same scent. On me,the scent dissipates very quickly after I've applied it to my skin so it doesn't really bother me that it has just a tad bit of an earthy smell to begin with.I sampled a little bit of the product I received today and I was happy to see that this shea butter melts very easily as soon as I put it in my hands, more so than the previous two orders that I received. My usual procedure for using the shea butter is to whip the raw shea butter together with some macadamia oil, using a hand mixer. It results in a light whipped texture that spreads easily on my skin and absorbs well it in a few minutes. Maybe halfway through my use of the jar, I might need to whip the remaining shea butter-macadamia oil mixture again because it reverts back a bit to its original firm state. When I've used up my current supply of the shea butter and I get to this latest jar that I received, I'm going try spreading the raw shea butter on my skin without whipping or adding the oil. I think it might spread easily and absorb into my skin quickly right out of the jar.

do NOT use on hair.
I was recommended to use this raw shea butter to help add moisture in my hair. I read all the instructions, I warmed a lil bit up in the microwave, and I put it on my wet clean hair. It IMMEDIATELY tangled my hair (my hair never tangles) and made it hard and completely immobile. I tried to work with it for as long as possible but nothing was helping it so I decided to rinse it out. Rinsing it out did absolutely nothing. I then had to wash my hair all over again just for there still to be residue in my hair. I don’t even understand how anyone could use this without completely ruining their whole head of hair. I have no idea how good this works on skin but this product definitely has one of the worst smells I’ve ever smelt.

Prevented Stretch Marks During 50+lb Pregnancy
A friend of mine had a baby without any consequential stretch marks using this product and a lavender oil (discontinued). So when it was my turn, I used the same 2 products. Unlike her, I gained more than 50 pounds during my pregnancy. Like her, I did not have any stretch marks. I recommended this to another girl and the same situation happened. Stretch marks have a genetic and age component, so for background I already had stretch marks in my saddle bags and all the females in my family have them, including preggo ones. Stupidly, I did not apply this to my chest and I earned several new stretch marks here during pregnancy.Con: Very thick texture, feels goopy and tacky while on.This provides a ton of moisture and is a great price for what you get and how much.

Shea Moisture Has Changed My Life!
I started using this brand about a year ago for my dry brittle frizzy hair. It has completely changed my hair and body. No longer am I dry and frizzy. All products are organic non-GMO. They even have a lotion with zero alcohol in it. If you're looking to vote by putting your money to good work...this is one company you should have at the top of your list. Shea Moisture is vegan and sustainably resourced, and for every purchase a generous percentage is paid back to charity. Sometimes you feel you have no power. But we all have the power to Vote with our money by the products we buy. No more big box chain stores and big pharma. This is a family owned buisiness that was established in the last century. A mom from long ago created the formulas and I have them all. I won't use anything but this for all the reasons listed above. You see one Pic of the smooth hair after treatment on the left and before treatment on the right; I'm wearing a green top with stars. It's a great brand. I can't say enough about it! 10 Stars For Me!

Not easy to rub in and stays greasy
Lets dive right in to what I learned about raw shea butter and trying to apply it.I imagine that if you have scale like dry skin or maybe for really rough feet that this stuff would work absolutely amazing! Part of why I wanted to try this was to get rid of typical lotions that are loaded with chemicals and a bunch of crap that isn't great for your body once absorbed. This lotion nails that as it doesn't get anymore clean and simple than raw shea butter. Is this practical for everyday use, quickly apply, and head out the door? To those question I was only able to answer a simple....nope!Currently in SoCal during January which is not ridiculously cold. The inside of my house ranges from 58-65 degrees. You can see in the pictures how curdled the lotion is when I received it. To the benefit of the instructions (seems crazy to read for lotion) I applied a little and did my best to break down the curds and rub onto or into my skin. Super uncomfortable and took way too much effort to rub in. 2nd attempt was to melt the lotion in the microwave for 20 seconds.....still hard, did another 20.....it finally started to soften up and break down. Stirred the lotion in the bowl to where it finally was soft and became something you could apply.Yes, the product mentions a very little bit goes a very long way. However you are left feeling greasy and it never seems to absorb into my skin. I literally ended up having to wipe it off because even after 30min it was still shiny and greasy feeling. I mean dang it.....I need to get my shirt on and get out the door, I can't be waiting all day for this stuff to absorb into my skin.Hope this helps you make a decision as my guess would be that it doesn't matter which company when it comes to being in raw form. Raw is raw and you need to determine what your needs are.
