The ultimate key finder
I bought this fob because I am always misplacing my keys. I can't count how many times I have spend 10 minutes or more looking around the house for my keys. Invariably, I can't find my keys when I am on the tightest deadline! This fob has actually saved me quite of bit of time that I would have spent looking for my keys. More importantly I've avoided a lot of frustration.Good:1. It has worked wonderfully for locating my keys. I just open the app, sound the alarm, and follow the beeping to my keys. My kids love to help me find my keys now! I don't panic when my keys aren't where they are supposed to be. Everyone is happier.2. I haven't noticed any drain on my phone battery.3. It has always worked as long as the fob hasn't been turned off (more on that later).4. Range is good. It has not had any problems locating the keys upstairs, when I am downstairs at the other end of the house.5. The fob is fairly small. Doesn't add much to my keys. It is black and doesn't draw attention. (see my picture)6. The battery is easily replaceable with a cheap CR2032 button battery7. Still going strong after 3 months.Bad:I did once turn off the fob by accident. If the button is pressed and held, the fob will turn off. However, it will make a sound notifiying you that it has turned off. The first time, I didn't realize that is what happened. Now I know and I can just turn it back on. That only has happened once, in the three months I have been using it.Ugly:NoneSummary:A reliable way to find your keys with your phone.Disclaimer: I use this fob ONLY for locating my keys. I don't use the phone tethering/alarm or to locate my phone. I can always call my iPhone (or ping it with Find my iPhone) and I don't necessarily want my keys and phone to always be together. I disabled all features other than locating the fob .

Unreliable
Pro:Decent form factorFairly loudCons:Doesn't automatically reconnect to my phoneI bought one of these and an Elgato Smart Key to test against each other. I want two total devices, one so I can find the $400 key to my car (or my phone), and one to notify me whenever my phone loses connection with my son's car seat. I always check my back seat when I get to work, but redundant precautions are good for everyone. It was a stroke of luck that I tried the Elgato on the car seat first, because the Kensington is very unreliable. It doesn't seem to automatically reconnect to my phone, making its last seen and find features completely useless. I really don't know how this product made it to market. It does make a better keychain than the other device, and is louder, but those things don't matter if its basic functions are faulty. I returned the item after only a couple weeks.

Beware of feature that's no longer present in their Proximo App, and one feature that may bug you.
My primary goal was to find a tag that can help if a child wanders too far away from her parent. The Kensington Proximo Tag "Tracker" was supposed to have this feature. The way this works is that if the tag moves beyond a distance threshold from its associated iPhone an alarm will sound in the Proximo app. There's supposed to be a sensitivity setting in the App that lets you set the distance threshold. I could not find this feature anywhere in the App or their documentation until I found a brief reference to it in a FAQ that says it's available in Advanced Mode. So I went looking for Advanced Mode, to no avail, so I called support. After some research, their tech had me reset my phone and reconnect the tag to it, but no Advanced Mode or Sensitivity setting appeared in the Proximo App. After more hold time she pronounced the tag defective and told me to return it to Amazon. I processed the RMA and ordered a replacement. The Proximo appears to be a good idea that's poorly executed, which is interesting since this appears to be a replacement for a previous generation tracking tag.But the idea that the tag could be defective in such a narrow way seemed absurd so I started a written support case at Kensington. Several hours later they replied that the Sensitivity Setting/Advanced Mode is not in the currently shipping App, which is due for correction at some future point.***UPDATE****Kensington Support wrote today:"We would like to inform you that we have received an update on the new version of Proximo 2.0 which mentions, that the "Advance Mode" has been removed. This is to help minimize the false alarms due to `sensitivity setting' being set too high (too sensitive or the range set too short). Thus, we regret to inform you that this app no longer features the Advanced mode."**************It's too late to cancel the replacement shipment so I'll have to get an RMA for it, too.To add insult to injury, my phone issue a loud warning horn sound a couple of during the night. This morning I checked its display and the source was the Proximo App saying that at 1am and 5am the tag had "disconnected", even though it hadn't moved from its location roughly 50 feet away (in my earlier tests of the default distance threshold it seemed closer to 100 ft). Maybe this is why Kensington added a "Quiet Zone" feature, so the user won't endure proximity alarms at certain locations. That raises the question: if you've tagged something you don't want to leave behind, wouldn't you want to be warned that you're forgetting to take it with you when you leave home?

Fortunately, the Proximo app allows the "virtual leash" function ...
This product works consistently for me to locate my keys using the app on my phone (Galaxy s5).I misplace my keys frequently around the house, and can always get my keys to ring (the ring volume is high enough to be audible from across the house). The virtual leash function, which is supposed to cause the phone to sound an alarm when the keys go out of range of the phone is less reliable, and occasionally there are false alarms when the keys and phone are near each other. Fortunately, the Proximo app allows the "virtual leash" function to be turned off, or even be deactivated in certain locations. If you're primary goal is the find your keys when you misplace them, this product works GREAT! If you're in need of the virtual leash function, I think you'll be disappointed in the reliability of that feature, which is why I knock off one star.
