Bluetooth is Excellent
Yes, it works with Alexa! And quite easily! In fact, so easily, that when I tell my Echo Spot to play music, the Denon stereo turns on instantly. I upgraded to this receiver because I signed on to Amazon Music Unlimited on only ONE of my Echo Spots, the one that talks with this. I am not disappointed. The Denon comes with various sound "modes" for both TV and music, and that's really good. I had those on my old receiver, but these are better, and there are more of them. I skipped the part of the setup where the receiver automatically senses your speakers' volume levels. I wanted to increase the center speaker only, for better dialogue on TV. I called Customer Support, and I was done and happy in under 5 minutes. They are very good.At first, set up seemed intimidating, because you must set up the receiver to the TV and then follow on-screen commands. Also getting on the wi-fi seemed tough at first. But really, neither were. This box is full of features, but if you want to just use it at a basic level, no problem. That's what I'm doing, and I'm working my way up from there. It makes my old stereo system (surround) sound new again. My subwoofer is self powered, and its directions tell me to tell the receiver there IS NO subwoofer. Ok, I did that. No problem. It rocks.I have had Denon products before: a wonderful carousel CD player. So I felt confident buying from them. And they are still as good.TIPS: Before you get started, be certain that you have at least several HDMI cables. Hopefully, your TV has an HDMI ARC out. That really helps. An ethernet cable to your modem is the best way to get this on the wi-fi, so keep your modem/router near the TV and this box and hook them up physically. No sweat. Fast, and it really, really solidifies your network connection.Bottom Line: It is so multi-functioned and modern, that it seems intimidating at first, but actually this Denon is very user friendly. It sounds great! It has oodles of settings for music and TV playback. And . . . Alexa integrates so easily, it's embarrassing. Now I have the entire Amazon music catalogue at my fingertips in my living room. Priceless!

Great unit at a reasonable price!
Hooked it up to my 70 inch wall mounted Sharp Aquos. It wasn’t difficult at all to do. It works great and simple to use. I am severely hearing impaired and this unit has the power to overwhelm me with sound. I have 7 inexpensive 8 ohm speakers that I bought from a pawn shop. I can literally shake the pictures right off of the walls. Like my old Denon this one produces a lot of heat. I set this one on top of the entertainment center to hopefully prevent this unit from overheating the circuit boards and weakening solder joints. I’ve had it hooked up for about two months now and so far not one problem. Adding a center speaker to the far end of the living room where I sit enables me to keep the volume down so not to disturb anyone sleeping. I am very pleased with my purchase. For around $300.00 it’s sure hard to beat.

Nice receiver!
This receiver replaced a 17-year old Denon AVR-1801 receiver. Compared to the old one, it's great to have HDMI switching, Pandora, and AirPlay from my iPhone.I am using this receiver in a 2 zone setup. The main zone is 5.1 used with the TV in the living room. The 2nd zone drives a whole-house speaker system in the rest of the rooms of the house. Setup was very easy, although there were two different firmware upgrades required, each of which took several minutes. The receiver has worked perfectly with the exception of two unexplained disconnects from my wi-fi network. When this happens, the Speaker Setup menu is greyed out. In both cases, power-cycling the receiver fixed the problem. I contacted Denon support, and they are not aware of any similar issues, blamed it on a weak wi-fi signal, and suggested I use wired Ethernet. It sounds like a firmware bug to me.The HDMI i/p scaler (as well as the extra power) were the main reasons I picked this model over the less-expensive AVR-S730h, and it works very well. When watching 1080i video from my cable box on my Vizio M65-E0 4K TV, the picture looks noticeably sharper with the receiver doing the upscaling than if I let the TV do the upscaling itself. When playing stereo sound, the receiver stays pretty cool, but with all 7 channels playing at once, it gets very hot. I was able to use my older Denon receiver in a cabinet with the door closed, but with this new one, I feel like it is necessary to keep the door open. All in all, a nice receiver, and I recommend it.
